I would hope this thread would be a go-to for news of injured and recovering Twins during spring training.

Star-Trib reports that Josh Winder is behind because of a "right scapula stress fracture" diagnosed in October. He won't be ready for the early Spring Training games, but is throwing 90 feet at this time.

Jose Miranda may be limited early in Spring Training due to the procedure on his right shoulder.

Injured from last year: Staumont and DeSclafani are reporting and saying they are recovered. Kirilloff is at Fort Myers with no report of being limited due to his late-season shoulder injury.

Assumed Buxton did something prior to reporting.

Official reporting date is Saturday IIRC. The first official workout is the 18th.

Josh Winder placed on the 60-day IL to make room for Margot. This means he will be out until late May, but could start rehab earlier. He will get major league service time and pay for his 60-day stint.

I saw a tweet that DeSclafani threw a 35-pitch bullpen yesterday and felt good afterward. With about three weeks to go before he would be scheduled to pitch, I don't think there's room for any more setbacks. Thielbar hasn't pitched yet and I haven't seen any notes on him recently. Same for Zack Weiss, who has always looked like a real longshot to make the club, but is on the 40-man.

Julien was hit in the wrist yesterday. Just bruised but will probably sit a couple of days.

Do Hyoung Park said that Julien is doing regular drills without a wrap on his wrist. He also noted that Thielbar will be pitching on one of the back fields today.

Buxton scratched from today’s game, as a precaution, due to lower back tightness. Not exactly an injury, yet, but definitely one to watch.

DeSclafani also going on the IL. His injury is in his forearm, according to Falvey. I wouldn't be surprised to see TJ in his future. (Pure speculation).

Wouldn't surprise me one bit.  Also wouldn't be surprised if he never starts a game for the Twins in the regular season.  I'd rather see Varland anyways.

That was a super fun 2 min with Falvey haha

He left out Lopez's shoulder tightness and Correa's foot amputation.

So with those injuries, the bullpen appears to be Jax, Stewart, Topa, Okert, Jackson, Staumont... then Alcala, Funderburk? Or maybe Duarte or another non-roster invitee will take a spot. But with the 40 man roster full as far as I can tell, there isn't a ton of room to add more guys to the bullpen for a couple weeks without DFA'd someone.

It doesn't end with that. Canterino will open the season on the minor league IL and Zack Weiss will also start the season on the major league IL.

My best guess is that DeSclafani will on the 60-day soon. The verdict will probably come pretty soon on whether Disco will get surgery.

No, I thought there was indication he was coming along soon. Certainly not 60-day unless you’ve heard something new?

Not concerned about Buxton. Unfortunately, obliques don't heal quick so I wouldn't expect to see Duran much before May. Desclafani going on the IL at least provides clarity and an opportunity for Varland. It's Varland's rotation spot to lose at this point. If Varland pitches well, and Desclafani doesn't need TJ, I expect the veteran arm will probably be moved to the 'pen. Theilbar's spot will probably go to Funderburk.

Yes. He reported "forearm stiffness" after his minor league outing a couple days ago and he will be seeing a surgeon this week.

Pretty decent level of speculation Desclafani could require surgery. His elbow been a long term issue dating well back into last year at this point. Not promising.

So, on one day, five guys are moved from likely to pitch in the next week to the IL. Tough day for sure.

Why you can never have enough pitching. Also emphasizing how last year’s relative health played into the Twins success.
