Another weapon? It's the A's, but that was impressive coming off TJ.

This would be his first time with the pitch clock, except for the rehab assignment. He seems to let it run down pretty low.

I think they want to see if he can handle multiple innings

I get that but first game back Id ease it a bit and get him a few appearances

Now hes gonna need loads of days off

Also his primal yell after inning 1 was that of a guy who thought he might just go 1

The role for him, like Varland and Maeda, in the postseason would be multi-inning reliever.

If we need them all to be multi inning guys we in big trouble

I would eased him back and more tested to see how he does 2 out of 3 days type of thing.

BTW, what is the story with the nickname “the Sheriff”?

Playing off Western theme, "paddocks?"

Give him another appearance or two. The stuff looks pretty good.

Yup, we got a pitcher on our hands.  I would assume they are still working some sort of extended spring training type innings/pitch load to build the arm.  He'll be a single inning guy in the playoffs, probably 5th or 6th.

The primal yell was a guy who hadn't been on a major league mound for 16 months. I'm sure he was told that he was going to pitch 2 innings

Is that a done deal?

Application has been made to Commissioner's office.

Working from memory but I think Commissioner said once the Tampa Bay Rays stadium plans were complete, this would be a go.

Padres fans began calling Paddack “the Sheriff” in Spring Training 2019 as an ode to his Texas roots and his cowboy hat and boots he wears on start days...the nickname took off when the Austin, TX native made his debut with the Padres by starting Game 4 of the 2019 season...Padres fans began wearing cowboy hats to his starts and badges with “Paddack’s Posse” inscribed on them...had 40-plus family members and friends in attendance for his ML debut.
