Not to mention that he'd be an asset in the bullpen for the playoffs, which he's proven he can handle. Absolutely not a waste of a roster spot.

I wouldn't say Kenta's a waste of a roster spot especially when you take a look at the Twins' bullpen. A couple of those guys - that's what a waste looks like.

If, and it is a huge if, Keuchel continues to pitch well, then Kenta in the bullpen - presuming the Twins actually make the post-season, makes a lot of sense.

Add in the fact that Maeda's contract is an absolute bargain at 3.1 Million a year.   If the Twins were foolish enough to release him he wouldn't come close to clearing the waiver wire.

If Keuchel continues to pitch well, I put him in the pen too.  Probably only need 3 starters.  Roll with Lopez, Gray and Ryan (assuming he's healthy).

Get through round 1 first.  Keuchel doesn't need to see the mound in round 1, but especially a round 2 long man would be nice to have if you're moving Maeda to the rotation.  

And I do agree on Keuchel, but the premise was that if he continues to pitch well.
