Julien and Solano had hits to start the game. First and third with nobody out and CC hit a sac fly. 1-0 Twins right now. No tv feed on Bally's from Mil yet.

If I'm Wallner I'm telling my agent "get me out of here now."  He has to show he can hit lefties.

And his agent would tell him to check his ego.  He is a rookie who has struggled mightily against LHP.  Earn the ABs.  All this would do is cause a rift between him and the clubhouse.  He is absolutely zero leverage.

How does he earn AB's against LHP if he doesnt get them?

That’s the damned if you do, damned if you don’t part of managing. The same question could have been asked last night, “How do we find out if Flora can be trusted if he doesn’t get an opportunity?”

(I’m not speaking for or against either decision, just noting the parallel.)

He got them yesterday against Miley.  Burnes is a RHP, so I'm not sure why this is an issue today.

Seems like both feeds are struggling today--when one works, the other goes down.  Not a great look for MLB when it's the "free game of the day".

I haven't had any issues. Been working fine. Puzzling

Start having better AB's when you get the chance?

Career line vs lefties: 43 PA, .119/.140/.238.  1 BB/14 K's.

2023 vs lefties: 25 PA, .120/.120/.280.  0 BB/7 K's.

Yes, it's a SSS, but it's obvious he struggles mightily against lefties.  Unless he is showing something different at practice, what argument does he have to get more AB's vs lefties?  I'm good against RHP so give me more AB's against LHP or I want out?  Come on now.

Maeda is going to last 2, maybe 3 inning at this rate....

With a potential for a long week for the pen with Texas in for four.

There's no reason to sit Wallner today against a righty. It's Rocco being Rocco.

Maybe Wallner woke up not feeling well today?  Maybe Wallner broke a team rule, and instead of airing the dirty laundry, Rocco is keeping it in house?  I'm no great Rocco defender, but sitting Wallner in one game against a righty who has been excellent against lefties this year does not necessarily rise to the level of scandal.

That’s why having a guy that you’ve predetermined will only throw 5 innings every start is usually a terrible idea. Must not have learned from the archer and bundy debacles

I'm taking it at face value, and based on that, sitting Wallner makes no sense. Is there more to it? Potentially. But Rocco hasn't come close to earning the benefit of the doubt either this year or really any other season. He leaves himself open to criticism. That's not a 'scandal'.

In combination with the "we have no needs in the bullpen" in both the offseason and trade deadline makes it far worse. They need their starters to go deep, and for the most part they have compared to last year, but it feels like their chances to win are so much worse once a starter can't go past 4 or 5 innings.

Maeda needs to get his act together. His constant gyrations and complaining only makes it more difficult when you're battling the game conditions.  Put it behind you, and work past it.

I was surprised to see 7 RHB in the lineup.  This clearly seems to be base on the strong reverse-splits for Burnes.

Here are Burnes' 2023 splits vs RHB & LHB:

Then take the splits at face value for the reasoning for him sitting.
