From a conspiratorial angle there is a slight chance they kept Ober up because Maeda is still hobbled, but they don't want to tell us because they don't respect us.

Can you blame them?  :D

How many times has a player with a "minor" injury come back and in the first game back that minor injury took them out of the game. Maeda might have gone through a bullpen session just fine, but with 100% effort on every pitch, a gimpy ankle could effect him. That would be a reason to keep Ober around and of course, he could take Maeda's spot in the rotation in that scenario.

Good point. Look at what happened with Erikson-Ek, a guy known for playing through stuff, was good in drills and lasted 19 seconds in a game.

I was actually going to say he looked great! He also sounded much more informative than when I heard him on Sunday Night Baseball, but to be fair, I also didn't really notice him on Sunday Night Baseball. Maybe he's being under-utilized.

In my head the 80s weren’t 40 years ago

You’re a model of consistency.

Thanks!

Warning: not to scale.

(also running in low attention span mode. I kinda assume game will be almost over by the time i get out of rehearsal and can follow the game, so i am focusing on what is important albeit in perhaps a less than mature fashion)

Lots of reasons not to make the move. One, it’s a solid for Ober getting a bit of service time and pay. Two, they need to extend these out somewhere with not even having Sands eligible to come back yet. They can’t blow through the moves that quickly or they will be hamstrung down the line. Third, all the other conspiracies. Fourth, Headrick is probably good for a couple innings instead of a bullpen or something.

Agreed here, I am not at all saying that Gallo is the perfect leadoff option. I just don't see how Kepler is the best option here in my opinion.

The way he is hitting Kepler shouldnt play period

Anyone hitting under 200 should not be batting lead-off.   Totally stumped why he is still here. Reminds me so much of the end of Doziers career.   I think the Twins are extremely loyal to certain players and hoping for a resurgence?    I would think he should be on the bench for now or maybe even time to let him go.

Yeah, I thought I read somewhere where they can only bring up/send down X times per year.  What is that number and is that per player or for the whole team?

I think it's 5. After being sent down for the 5th time the player can elect FA, or something like that. So once recalled a 5th time, they need to stay on the roster or the team risks losing them
