Are we sure that Twins fans should be ranked as sparkly as they are…. I think we all do these very frequently :)

I have by no means been to every major league ballpark (or city for that matter), but I have been to quite a few.  My experience is that fanship at Target Field is definitely among the most "civilized" that I have seen.  It's not perfect. . . I'm a realist. . . there are ding dongs all over, but it really is pretty good. 

I do feel like I have to defend the White Sox fans.  I find them to be pretty normal and reasonable people. . . they could be Twins fans.  Again, there are a few real ding dongs out there doing really, really dumb stuff so that's not good but that is the exception and not the rule.  Unfortunately we all tend to gravitate toward the example of the worst imaginable behavior and assume that it happens all the time.  On the other hand, and the other side of town, it is impossible to go to a Cubs game and not experience at least 7 out of 10 of the criteria and sometimes more than that.  Insufferable does not even begin to describe the situation, and it is almost always present. Honestly, I have experienced most of these things with Cubs fans without even being at the ballpark.  They are a different sort. . .

BTW, speaking of the entitlement issue with fans, the Gophers mens hockey team is the Yankees of NCAA Div. I. They feel that the way recruiting should work is thusly: the Gophers choose which players will be on their team and all other colleges go from there. This is especially the case regarding players from Minnesota. I hope their streak of not winning a national championship continues.

Ok, Hocking's play at Fenway in 2001 was ridiculous. Mientkiewicz's sliding catch and pop up throw to Hocking was equally as impressive. That play epitomizes the resurgence of the TWINS as it was just heads up and miraculous from start to finish.

I was watching the Twins vs Tigers--the first game of the 1987 playoffs at a low-key sports bar near the San Diego Airport (before my flight). There were only a few people in the place and only four Detroit fans and I were interested in the game. As the game started turning bad for the Tigers, they became increasingly obnoxious as well as angry and started loudly voicing threats towards any Twins fans. I'm sure if I had let out a cheer for the hometown boys that I would have ended up in the hospital (if I was lucky) and not on an airplane.

I would agree. I've been to several games in Chicago-both ballparks. White Sox fans were great. Cubs fans were...like Boston fans. I don't really find the appeal of either ballpark TBH. Wrigley smells. Us Cellular field/comiskey/guaranteed rate or whatever it is called now is stale and has no character.

Jeter is not the only player that gets put up higher because he plays well for the Yankees.  That is one reason I hate them.  The other reason, is Twins never beat them, even when Yankees are not a good team.  I also do not like the entitled fans.  I also hate Boston, because they did much of what Yankees did, but people loved them because they were the rivals of Yankees, I do not like either for much of same reasons. 

Just pertaining to Jeter (yeah a HOFer w/3000 hits and 58 [estimated] WS rings)...

A very good  case can be made that at NO TIME in his career was he the best shortstop in baseball.  Kinda weird for a HOF position player.  

At retirement he was likely the  3rd best SS.  On the Yankees.

I really don't like the word "hate". I probably hate the word "hate", more than I could ever hate any team. That being said, there are two teams that I dislike immensely. The NY Yankees, and the Dallas Cowboys. I grew up in the NY/NJ metro area, and as kid, I had Yankees this and Yankees that thrown at me constantly by relatives and friends. I ALWAYS root against them. That's why I was a Mets fan. When I moved to Mn, my dislike of the Yankees grew even more. As for the Cowboys, I was a NY Giants fan and Dallas always kicked the snot out of the Giants, when I was a kid. The strange thing is...I liked and respected Tom Landry a great deal. Fantastic coach, and he got done dirty by Jerral, which was an absolute shame. When it comes to attending games, the two worst experiences myself and my family have ever had, were unfortunately here in MN. Once at Target Field, and once at the dome for a Vikes game. Both instances caused by drunk, loud, unruly, offensive, obnoxious idiots. At the Twins game, the offending people were eventually booted out of the stadium. Kudos to the ushers and security there. At the Vikes game, nothing was done, and we ended up leaving because it was unbearable. In all the games I've attended back in NY and Philly, I've never had anything like that happen. No other city either. I know that's amazing, but it's true. I'll never go to an NFL game again, but I love going to Twins games and will continue to do that.

The Twins have had basically no success on a national stage in 3 decades. I'm not at all surprised this fan base is viewed as "well behaved," or "not annoying." It's hard to be bothered by something you never notice. 

La Russa as the most annoying manager is hilarious; 100% he received a nod from every Sox fan polled.

It was stale and had no character on the day of the first game played there. It's the last of the boring 20th Century ballparks. The next stadium to open was Oriole Park at Camden Yards which ushered in the modern era of baseball venues.

Fascinating.  I don’t have a terrible time from the fans at Yankee Stadium.  That’s because the Twins roll over and die there, I guess.
