ashbury Verified Member Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 Trea Turner? He's that young guy, so eleven years won't... wait, what, he turns 30 next June? Geez, I feel old.

I'd 100% rather go 11 for a lower annual number, then just release him the last year and have dead money..... Twins could have drafted him and not Gordon....sigh.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 Seems reasonable, actually. Does that take them out of Rodon?

Man, that draft seems like only yesterday, and now Turner is 30-years-old.
puckstopper1 Verified Member Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 You think Correa is loving that contract....
Brandon Verified Member Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 11 years and 300 million. This bodes well for us and Correa I think. 10 and 31 per season give or take 2 million per year.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2022 Author Posted December 5, 2022 Behold! The first look of Trea Turner in a Phillies jersey.
CRF Verified Member Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 CC is licking his chops. The money train will be pulling into the station. Unfortunately, I don't think it's gonna be in Mpls.

I also would rather have a player for 11 years instead of 10 given the same money. This is basically a "Buy 9 years, get 2 free" contract.
cHawk Community Moderator Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 11 years? Wow. That’s a lot for a SS who will turn 30 next year. On another note, if this at all influences the market for Correa, our chances of resigning him are ****ed.

That was my original thought, but Turner's AAV is over 6M per year less than MLBTR predicted. Depending on what both the Twins and Correa want, it actually might help.
umterp23 Verified Member Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 will be nice to see if the particulars are shared. Higher dollars to start with scale going lower over time. Might not be a bad thing for Twins with Correa, really depends on high we want annual to start with, thus limiting how we spend any other dollars for others.
