Especially when he had a legitimate shot for his 4th no hitter, which would have made him only the second player in history to have 4.

If they can't score again - which it looks like they won't - then it won't matter what the pen did, and it will end up as a bad game. Rocco does seem to have the touch of death with whatever bullpen moves he makes, but Fulmer crapping the bed in the 6th rather then the 7th doesn't change anything. NO the boys that dumped on Fulmer would have had to face Bundy, world of difference.

Listen, Emilio pagan has more to offer than smith did. We watched smith’s career end in real time. It wasn’t pleasant
RpR Verified Member Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 The fact that most Minn. bats have gone silent , besides Cave, Beckham and any one else who is a poster's punching bag, means there is some thing very, very wrong with from whom the players are getting what is supposed to be ways to help, not hinder their abilities.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 You have to start asking yourself just how far away we really are from legitimately competing.

This offseason I think we have to ask the tough questions whether the long term core players will really help this team win a playoff game, let alone a series. A perfect example where analytics is going too far… If you would have told me in March Carlos Correa has less than 40 RBI heading into September, I’d say he’s been hurt since early June. And people are 100% convinced he’ll opt out and receive more money. That’s insane.

RpR Verified Member Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 Whether you like them or not, but the change in the announcers attitude while announcing the game is sooo obvious, after Fulmer came in.

Still here. Negativity is fine, it just gets annoying when it's constant and clogging up the game threads. On a macro scale, I'm totally fine with it (personally I wish there was a bit more skepticism in the TD articles), but on a micro scale it becomes fatiguing, especially back when the Twins were playing well. It is a lot more understandable now that the team is playing like garbage. 2 minutes ago, Aggies7 said: You have to start asking yourself just how far away we really are from legitimately competing. Even when the Twins were hot, it still felt like there was a big gap between the top 5 teams and us, now it feels like the chasm is monstrously wide. Not even some trade acquisitions that looked good on paper moved the needle...

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 21 straight quality starts for Framber Valdez. I can’t validate it but I’m willing to bet the Twins as a team doesn’t have 21 quality starts.
RpR Verified Member Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 Fulmer pitching now makes a VERY big difference.

One man's negativity is another's cold realism. One man's fanboyism is another's faith and optimism. One man's "Rocco needs to GO" is another's "he's got two ALC crowns!" All should be welcome. I think what's gets annoying (and clogs game threads) is the constant bickering from one side or the other telling one side or the other they don't have a right to their opinion. And that goes for all sides. I hid a post tonight from a "negative nancy" taking shots at "positive pollyannas." That's EXACTLY the same as what that poster is complaining about.

It’s not really though. My post was simply pointing out that SOME of the posters who look down on the more negative people here tend to disappear when things are obviously going down the tubes. Some of the most negative posters often turn out to be the diehards. I mean, there are literally 3 pages of posts tonight. Couple months ago you’d probably have had 15. Been that way for years here when the team is dropping out of contention. I’m a supporter of all opinions, I just think it’s funny when TD turns into a ghost town except for a few, negatives included. Seems like nobody wants the party spoiled when we’re 7 games up, yet it’s a ghost town when we’re 4 back.

The TD pendulum seems to have swung further to the extremes in both directions. Absolutely, the low brow bitching in post game write ups and game threads is grating, IMO regardless of how the team is doing. Equally annoying are the over the top homer takes, and recently the goal post shifting, in what's becoming a disappointing season. I still remember that article in May about Jeffers as a top catcher in baseball. Classic. I didn't move over from BYTO, but I've followed content here for 8 years now. I'm sure you also remember when it was a small group of writers putting out quality content, not infrequently, but maybe once a day, or once every other day, and there would be 15+ pages of discussion on some of those articles. Now, it's 3-4 articles daily, most of which offer shallow analysis at best, and at worst are click bait fodder. It's a bummer.

There has to be a distinction made between constructive criticism and just bitching that “we stink”. Sometimes the mood of TD is to denigrate the fans as “less than” who are more often negative than positive, regardless of the validity of their complaints. I mean let’s face it, we haven’t won a playoff game in 18 years. I don’t know where this unfettered positivity is supposed to flow from. But there is a definitely a tone of “you aren’t welcome here” if you tend to fall to the more pessimistic side. Somehow it “clogs up the game threads”. But ironically the game threads are pretty quiet these days. One has to wonder where everyone went.

I think i fell asleep in the second inning, vaguely remember rolling over and seeing a 2-1 score, and going back to sleep, and finally waking up, thinking the commercials indicated the game was over and turning it off...

Help me out on this one. Are they the same because the first actually means he needs to go get us a third crown? Or because the second is meant to express dissatisfaction with two ALC crowns, that he should be like TK with two championships, or Gardy with more crowns?
