I also think that we need to be honest that Wes Johnson leaving mid season is really inexcusable, and I'm not saying that really falls on Wes either... But you need to have a fully committed coaching staff at the beginning of the season, and if you like your guys need to need to pay them to keep them. Again, there may be extenuating circumstances, but losing your pitching coach on a team that already had a house of cards pitching staff is really inexcusable and the organization really needs to take a long hard look at why/how that happened even if it was on relatively good terms.

It better have been pretty #$(&!% far from on relatively good terms from the Twin point of view

We're getting pretty close to Total System Failure territory these days.  Very odd to say when a team still clings to first place, but here we are.

Could be breakdown.

I can’t disagree. Hiring from the college ranks was called smart and forward-thinking, and they accepted all the praise when they announced the hire. So here’s the other side of the coin.

Better get use out of this phrase before probably Monday or so

I'm afraid you might be correct.

Completely agree.

That's bush league and I don't care what the pay jump was.

I would like to think that Johnson left because he didn't want to be part of the organizational overhaul of how they handle pitching.  But I know that's just wishful thinking on my part.

I was thinking a total train wreck, but I like your choice of words a lot better.

Methinks something's wrong with Ryan.  Things have been headed downhill for several weeks.  Betting he'll be headed to the IL shortly....

Not really. His 4 previous starts he was 3-1 with a 2.05 ERA and 20 K's in 22 innings.

Maybe he’s just not that good

It’s over. Falvine will acquire 1 or 2 bottom tier relievers with good sliders and Cleveland and Chicago will blast past us. And honestly maybe it’s a good idea not to make any big deals. Farm system is currently a mess. Most of the prospects are hurt or majorly ineffective this year. Do they blow up what’s rest of it to try and win a playoff series?
Ryan isn’t winning a playoff game. They have two good relievers and Gray. No other starters should pitch in the playoffs as a starter. If they acquire 1 good starter and 2-3 good relievers it will wreck the farm. Is that worth it to have a 50-50 chance to win 1 playoff series and get obliterated in the second round?

It’s so stupid that they can’t win with Correa but this team is not accomplishing anything significant in the playoffs outside of maybe winning their first playoff game which is only an accomplishment for Minnesota.

Alarming we have so many of these games where the twins just aren’t competitive and quit halfway through the game.

There’s truly no reason to subject yourself to this kind of torture on a beautiful MN night. I’ve spent the last 3 hours in front of a fire and recently saw the score. No reason to watch this team until trades are made.

I would venture to say anyone watching this game is also sitting in front of a (dumpster) fire.

You haven't lived until you enjoy a nice dumpster fire! Really brings out the ambiance in the night sky..magical.

Twins farm system is not that impressive.

Most Minnesotans aren't watching the game anyway because of the blackout and the fact that only boomers still have cable packages. No offense to boomers. Actually, I don't know why I felt compelled to attack boomers, my boomer parents don't have cable either... and it sure would be nice to be able to watch the Twins with my family who still live in MN.

I call BS.

Sano has 5 hits?

just flip Sano for the The Turtle. We'll be trading all those strikeouts for all those first pitch weak pop-ups! Choose the poison.

While our pitching is just plain lousy, we should take a hard look at our lineup. It isn't exactly purring along. Outside of Arraez and maybe Miranda, it has been pretty disappointing. Even Buck's 25 HR's can't hide a BA of under .220, a low OBP and high on the MLB leaderboard in k's. Polo and Correa are not getting it done to the extent they are needed. Don't need to go over everyone...they are all having less than stellar years so far.

Will they hang on to 1st on August 1st? Might not.

That’s my point. Most of the major pieces are hurt and ineffective also and acquiring a frontline starter and great reliever will put them in the bottom third of all farm systems. I’d be all in for Mahle or a reliever with control.

My Dish Network package is probably cheaper than your streaming whatever, Mr Whippersnapper.

No offense.

Well there is a semi-attractive blonde sitting right above the 'P' in the Petco sign.

I mean maybe technically, but I share youtube TV with like 3 different family members... and MLB.TV is a great option for people who don't live in MN or other black out states.

This is the sort of game where he might hit a meaningless 450 footer... he did have a chance early on to actually tie the game with a dinger. But we know how that worked out.
