Mill1634 Verified Member Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 Roster Move: The Twins have placed RHP Chris Archer on the 15-day IL with a hip issue and have recalled RHP Josh Winder to start tonight. The Pitchers: RHP Josh Winder (3-2, 3.06 ERA, 24K, 36.1IP, 0.6 bWAR) vs RHP Michael Kopech (2-5, 2.78 ERA, 63K, 68IP, 2.0 bWAR) Winder was very good his last time out against the Guardians in which he threw the 2nd game of the doubleheader, going 6 innings while allowing 4 hits but no runs. He walked one and struck out one while throwing 81 pitches. Winder hasn't been great at getting the strikeout this year, but has been good in all other facets. The White Sox lineup is the second best lineup he's faced on paper behind the Dodgers. Kopech is coming off of a 5.1 inning start against the LA Angels where he allowed 4 runs, 3 earned, on 5 hits, 2 walks, a homer, and 6 K's. Kopech relies heavily on a 94-98 MPH fastball and mixes in a slider, curve, and change. Kopech's velo has been down as of late as has his results. The Twins will need to get on him early with the weather moving in. The Lineups Twins 1B Luis Arraez L DH Byron Buxton R SS C. Correa R RF Max Kepler L 2B J. Polanco S LF A. Doctor Gast Verified Member Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 Wish Archer a speedy recovery and welcome back Winder! GO TWINS!!!!!!!!!!!
MMMordabito Verified Member Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 Let's go, Winder! Big game for him, first time at Guaranteed Rate.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 Some of the players' social media accounts were showing them out and about in Chicago and I kind of wanted to play stalker and show up in places they were. But I didn't.
RpR Verified Member Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 I have no idea why any one would put Kirilloff in that group, before Larnach slumped, for what ever reason, I would have put him there as far as batting.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 @Squirrelwill be a better judge, but it looks like storms will be arriving in Chicago in the next hour.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted July 6, 2022 Author Posted July 6, 2022 Kep can not continue to hit in the 4 hole.
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 This pitcher is getting squeezed by the ump.
AstrosTwins Verified Member Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 Can’t let them off the hook here…..
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 Mound visit in the 1st. Kopech getting rattled.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted July 6, 2022 Author Posted July 6, 2022 sigh. at least we got Kopech's PC way, way up
PopRiveter Verified Member Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 Bad, bad, bad missed opportunity by AK

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 In case anyone needed a reminder that walks are indeed NOT as good as hits.

Mill1634 Verified Member Posted July 6, 2022 Author Posted July 6, 2022 great throw and the correct call
Winston Smith Verified Member Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 They should probably pick up the pace if they want to get this game in.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted July 6, 2022 Author Posted July 6, 2022 At this point in the year the 4th OF spot should be treated as a straight platoon. Gordon has great underlying metrics and better performance than Celestino over the past month

It's hard to judge ... it's looked really 'grayish' for a while ... and I've gotten alerts that say 'start raining by 9' ... but, sometimes these things miss this area
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted July 6, 2022 Author Posted July 6, 2022 The weather app I just looked at has the rain holding off until 11
CRF Verified Member Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 Yeah...all that rain that missed us here in the metro, is racing toward Chicago. It sure looks like they're gonna get hit with some storms before the game is over.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted July 6, 2022 Author Posted July 6, 2022 another great call by the base ump. Too bad the home plate ump sucks
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted July 6, 2022 Author Posted July 6, 2022 about to enter the "red zone" here in central Iowa. hopefully the wifi stays on.
