This is the crap that's ruining baseball. It's a hitter's job to hit; is he supposed to just stand there and let every pitch sail past him? If you don't want the other team to try and score, just forfeit. No, this isn’t the crap that is ruining baseball. This was a "courtesy" extended to all teams, by all other teams over the decades. And I doubt there is any rational debate that today’s game is better than the eras that preceded this one. Every team, in every season has games like last night, and will often close it out with a position player. That swing wasn’t about winning or losing, it was simply about being a jerk. Again, hitting the HR wasn’t the problem. Swinging on the 3-0 was. It’s the same reason teams in basketball don’t shoot in their last possession which a solid lead, and football teams don’t kick field goals with the game in the bag!

I went with eggs, because they are potentially chicken. If those eggs you put in the oven turn into chickens, canonization might be in your future.

This is a problem, because it drives a lack of interest, which forces MLB to try and do things to maintain popularity. They scored 16 runs, Larussa and the White Sox are gonna be anything but uninteresting this season

Basketball teams often do shoot in their last possession if the shot clock will expire before the game clock. Football teams don't kick field goals, but they do try to pick up first downs (until such time as they can kneel out the clock). However, in that last intsance, there is a contract being made. The offense is saying we won't try any more, but only if you don't try either. So that's where my issue comes from. If the Twins don't want the White Sox to try, because they don't intend to try, then just forfeit. Swinging on 3-0 is not disrespectful. If you don't want a guy to swing on 3-0 when his team is up by a bunch in the 9th, then don't be down by a bunch in the 9th, or don't fall behind 3-0.

MMMordabito Verified Member Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 I would be happy that they're making Lynn work, but LaRussa will probably let him go well over 100 pitches ... Nevermind ... Thanks Sano

Well then I imagine there isn’t anything wrong with stealing in the too of the ninth up ten? Very classy!

No, I'm saying if you don't want to be behind a hitter 3-0, don't start the plate appearance with 3 straight balls. I'm saying a hitter attempting to hit is not disrespectful.

ashbury Verified Member Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 Sano needs to be reminded to look the ball into his glove. Hand-eye coordination is made much harder when there is no eye.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 Larnach runs like a 6'5" 12 year old who hasn't finished puberty yet
RickOShea Verified Member Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 It's very early, but Larnack has the 'look' of a Major Leaguer. Hopefully, he can hit like one.
RickOShea Verified Member Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 I'd like to see a Twins pitcher soften up some of Tim Anderson's rib cartilage.

cHawk Community Moderator Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 So which pitching prospects could we see this year? First there’s Ober, then what?
