Garver's career caught stealing rate is now 19.5%. The league average is 27%. That is ridiculous. (Yes, yes, it's not all the catcher, but...)

Just from watching Shoemaker, I think he's the problem. He seems to be really easy to steal on.

Garver is a terrible defensive catcher. Weak arm, slow release, questionable game calling skills, and the worst hands you'll see in the big leagues.

 

If he's not an .850 OPS guy, he shouldn't be playing much.

People love Alcala because he throws hard, which fine. However, the fastball isn't very "good." It gets hit hard and doesn't get swing and misses. Throwing hard is fine and makes good PitchingNinja posts, but if it's ineffective it's just a moot point.
