if you can find a way to make starters go 6 innings consistently, that would be a huge help

I wouldn’t be opposed to shortening the season, they don’t need to play 162, I think 120 is plenty

i'm fine with it if it starts in maybe the 12th or 13th inning. but starting it in the tenth is like a shootout in soccer after 100 minutes of game play

Agree 100%. Would be happy if it started in the 13th or 14th IMO.

At that point teams just want to go home. But in the 10th & 11th innings, teams are surely engaged and still fighting.

> In the earliest version of base ball—two words back then—games were not nine innings long. Instead, teams played until one side scored 21 runs, which, at the time, were called “aces.”

> In the early days, outfielders could put out base runners not just by tagging but also by throwing the ball at them before they reached the base.

> Batters had the right to request a low or high pitch from 1867 to 1887

> Pitchers were required to throw underhand until 1883

> Rather than crouching, catchers would stand a few feet behind home until the early 1900s

> The spitball was outlawed in 1920 -- but pitchers who had been throwing it for years were grandfathered in

> Ground rule doubles were actually home runs as recently as 1930

All good facts.

But I think it's harder to evolve the older you get, both as a person and as an institution. To think that they were able to actually lower the mound in 1969 seems mindbogglingly drastic! And then there's the DH, which has been around now for nearly half a century, and yet half the league calls it a cheap innovation they will never adopt. By the way, I went a college game recently and the pitch clock is just ridiculous; there it is, counting down between every f'ing pitch, and never, not once, did a pitcher exceed the limit. If you're going to have it, at least let it be a timer in the Ump's pocket and not something to look at behind home plate.

This easily could've been avoided if Rocco had any feel for the game rather than making his pitching change based off a spreadsheet

It became evident that this team was full-on using computer-generated algorithms in Rocco's first year. It was all about walks, the 3-run HR, etc. "Moneyball" clones.

Not sure I can watch the rest of this Verdugo AB. Going to turn into the post-game show....
