ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 Twins had an opportunity to go get a closer with some gas. Or re-sign May. Or just go with Rogers again and hope his 2020 was a blip. Instead they go out and get a softball pitcher. Unbelievable. Terrible player, terrible signing. And Stashak needs to be demoted yesterday. All these pollyanna Twins fans "not worried about the bullpen" aren't watching the games. Awful.May, definitely, who was just coming into his own.
Dave The Dastardly Verified Member Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 Doesn’t a hard throwing reliever named Alcala pitch for the Twins? I seem to recall he strike out batters. Is that allowed?
twinssporto Verified Member Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 He reminds me of Rodney, physically and psychically. The hat needs to be turned just a touch.
Twinsoholic Verified Member Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 Now Alcala comes in. He probably has the best arm in the pen.
MVP Nick Punto Verified Member Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 Is that allowed?Every other Sunday.
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 This one's on you, Rocco. Pretty consistent statement for all the losses this year......
mrtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 Now remember to get him right back out there tomm, rocco, AGAIN
ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 Now Alcala comes in. He probably has the best arm in the pen.Seems like he's for real. Not the closer of the future, but the closer of the now. Couldn't be worse than ACE, right?
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 Searching for joy......... and the happiness of my team winning...... got sucked in and at 6-0 in the 6th decided to waste the rest of the afternoon and revel in it. At least it isn't the playoffs.

All these pollyanna Twins fans "not worried about the bullpen" aren't watching the games. Awful.Colome has a 8.9 K/9 since 2016, and a Hits/9 of 7.0. He should be better than this, especially under Wes' tuleage. This is starting to feel a bit Addison Reed-esque... dude with a strong track record comes in and his arm gives way and he bombs. Which is probably in part why the FO is so hesitant to pay up for a reliever, since they expire so quickly and their effectiveness can fluctuate incredibly quickly. That is to say that they need to get Colome through in non-high leverage innings and see if they can figure out what's up. He definitely can't be closing games like this.
cHawk Community Moderator Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 Yeah, the bullpen is a problem. Make Rogers and Robles the closers. Duffey, Thielbar, Alcala, and Stashak are the setup guys. Colome...is he trolling us?
denarded Verified Member Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 Good news. We don't lose an extra inning game and have to complain about ghost runner on 2b. On a serious note Sano, Cave, Kepler is the black hole of Calcutta. We need to move one of them out of starting lineup. I'm not being reactionary a few games, they have too many flaws in their approach to plate
twinssporto Verified Member Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 Rally time boys and girls! It's gonna happen...We either win or lose.
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 I would say that Colome has the Lance Lynn Minnesota Disease, but I fear he was cooked like Romo by the end of the year, and the White Sox knew and and saw it. I don't really see this as getting fixed. This is disaster.
Twinsoholic Verified Member Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 Alcala does the job. Only had 3 innings before his one inning today. Crappy bullpen use by Rocco.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 Oh look. The 9th has a bottom half. How many do we get to score?
hybridbear Verified Member Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 If someone gets on base do you pinch hit for Sanó?
mrtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 Hey like in Politics, can ya Re-call a manager with a petition ??
Dave The Dastardly Verified Member Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 If someone gets on base do you pinch hit for Sanó?I would surely hope so.

He definitely can't be closing games like this.K/9 isn't really a great stat. K percentage is better. In any case, Colome is at 8.2 K/9 career, and was 8.1 in 2019 and 6.2 last year. There's a reason Chicago let him go.
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 Missed that call inside..... the close ones.... the ones you deseve to get credit for a good take the most.
hybridbear Verified Member Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 At least Buxton knows how to hit when the rest of the team doesn’t know how... I guess Arraez is doing pretty well too.
Dave The Dastardly Verified Member Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 Come on, Kep. Save us from watching Dr. K look helpless
cHawk Community Moderator Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 I would say that Colome has the Lance Lynn Minnesota Disease, but I fear he was cooked like Romo by the end of the year, and the White Sox knew and and saw it. I don't really see this as getting fixed. This is disaster. I believe it is fixable. But Colome is in no way a closer. 6th Inning or maybe 7th at the absolute most. Make Rogers and Robles the closers.
hybridbear Verified Member Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 Montero pitched yesterday. If the Twins know the stats about relievers pitching back-to-back they should be making him work & take pitches instead of swinging at the first pitch like Cruz.
IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 This definitely hurts, but for context, Trevor May has a 2.57 WHIP and a 7.71 ERA going into today. In other action, other options we could have signed -- Baez, Rosenthal, Hand (COVID), Soria, Yates and Clippard -- are all on the IL.
