GAME THREAD: Seattle Mariners @ Minnesota Twins, 11 Apr 2021, 1:10 PM CDT

Twins had an opportunity to go get a closer with some gas. Or re-sign May. Or just go with Rogers again and hope his 2020 was a blip.

Instead they go out and get a softball pitcher. Unbelievable. Terrible player, terrible signing. And Stashak needs to be demoted yesterday. All these pollyanna Twins fans "not worried about the bullpen" aren't watching the games. Awful.

May, definitely, who was just coming into his own.

Searching for joy......... and the happiness of my team winning...... got sucked in and at 6-0 in the 6th decided to waste the rest of the afternoon and revel in it. At least it isn't the playoffs.

Colome has a 8.9 K/9 since 2016, and a Hits/9 of 7.0. He should be better than this, especially under Wes' tuleage.

This is starting to feel a bit Addison Reed-esque... dude with a strong track record comes in and his arm gives way and he bombs. Which is probably in part why the FO is so hesitant to pay up for a reliever, since they expire so quickly and their effectiveness can fluctuate incredibly quickly.

That is to say that they need to get Colome through in non-high leverage innings and see if they can figure out what's up. He definitely can't be closing games like this.

Yeah, the bullpen is a problem. Make Rogers and Robles the closers. Duffey, Thielbar, Alcala, and Stashak are the setup guys. Colome...is he trolling us?

Good news. We don't lose an extra inning game and have to complain about ghost runner on 2b. On a serious note Sano, Cave, Kepler is the black hole of Calcutta. We need to move one of them out of starting lineup. I'm not being reactionary a few games, they have too many flaws in their approach to plate

I would say that Colome has the Lance Lynn Minnesota Disease, but I fear he was cooked like Romo by the end of the year, and the White Sox knew and and saw it. I don't really see this as getting fixed. This is disaster.

K/9 isn't really a great stat.

K percentage is better.

In any case, Colome is at 8.2 K/9 career, and was 8.1 in 2019 and 6.2 last year.

There's a reason Chicago let him go.

I believe it is fixable. But Colome is in no way a closer. 6th Inning or maybe 7th at the absolute most. Make Rogers and Robles the closers.

Montero pitched yesterday. If the Twins know the stats about relievers pitching back-to-back they should be making him work & take pitches instead of swinging at the first pitch like Cruz.

This definitely hurts, but for context, Trevor May has a 2.57 WHIP and a 7.71 ERA going into today.

In other action, other options we could have signed -- Baez, Rosenthal, Hand (COVID), Soria, Yates and Clippard -- are all on the IL.
