Like I kept saying today, people were bashing Gibson and he's the only guy that has come within a country mile of not being terrible. If Baldelli had a bullpen, I doubt he even throws to Gregorius.

Schoop has been fairly bad (by Twins lineup standards) against righties, but he just mashes lefties. 

3 fastballs in the zone though. He got the right pitch to hit. Happ is a bad pitcher these days.

Are they though?

Absolutely. Berríos and Odorizzi were All-Stars. Gibson has been solid since the end of 2017. Pineda has shown signs of being back to form, but he has still been plagued by piling pitch counts. Peréz has shown he can do it, especially early in the year.

 

I think Peréz is the odd man out if the Twins bring in another starter, but all 5 of these guys are capable.

Maybe, but everybody else has been worse. Much worse.

 

It's like everyone on this forum has forgotten that the Twins' offense has been even more brutal to the Yankees' pitching staff than the other way around.

We're talking about the pitching staffs for the first and third best teams in the American League.

 

Or does it not count that the Twins have been punching the Yankees' staff in the face for three straight games?

I cant remember the last time the Twins scored and the pitching staff didnt give up runs the next half inning

I would counter that the Twins rotation isn't better than this.

I think they are. 2 all stars, a solid #3, and a 4 & 5 that have shown they have good stuff and can be effective. 

 

I think they could use another solid starter, but there's no reason these 5 can't be better.

Odo isn't an all-star, and certainly hasn't been pitching like one lately. However, I do think the staff is better than they've pitched right now. They are in a rough patch, much like the lineup was prior to this.

It counts, but I’m not sure for what if our guys have been every bit as bad if not worse. I’m not going to get excited about a guy pitching to a 9 ERA for the game as if he accomplished anything. So far 3 of our starters have failed to help the team win. The rest is just details

Because I hold grudges, I'll bring up yet again that Cave dived and missed during a game at Kauffman Stadium that I attended last year - the results were worse that time, with a inside-the-park HR. As a consequence he's about my least favorite position player on the team, with consistently poor judgement on anything requiring more than ordinary skill.
