I did not want to watch this game tonight!  I have to do game thread intro tomorrow and didn't want to get influenced by negative vibes...we're up by 7 so who cares...Tomorrows opener involves artichokes, gas grills, sirloin steak and graham crackers.

Losing Kepler for a significant period of time, on top of Buxton and Marwin, would be pretty devastating. That also includes IL trips for Garver, Cruz, and Sano.

 

I was under the impression that only the Yankees have to deal with injuries.

Mrs Chief and I went out to dinner earlier this evening, and wouldn't you know it, we sorta got all ****** off at each other over something or other. I don't even remember what. I usually just forget about stuff like that, but Mrs Chief...well, Mrs Chief isn't so quick to let it drop. She just kept harping at me all the way home, and I got distracted.

 

Sure enough, I look in the mirror and there are the flashing lights. Dang it! So I pull over, and the officer eventually ambles up to my window.

 

"Sir," he says, "do you know why I pulled you over?"

 

"Why no, officer. I have no idea."

 

At which point, Mrs Chief decides to pipe up. "Of course you do," she says. "You were speeding."

 

"Ah, honey, I don't think I was speeding."

 

"Yes you were. 17 MPH over the limit."

 

"Ah, dear...," I said, looking for a way out. "Are you sure?" Because I WAS NOT SPEEDING!"

 

"STOP IT!" she screamed. "STOP LYING! You were SPEEDING."

Well, I was pretty angry at this point, I admit. And it must have been obvious to the officer

 

"Ma'am," he said, "does he get like this often?"

 

"No, not often," she said, staring right into my face. "Only when he's been drinking."

I'm kind of okay they kept him out there through seven. Still in line for a win, not a big deal to add a few more runs, but you can't truly expect the bullpen to do significantly better.
