h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Sure would like more runs on those 91 pitches so far....... They are going to have to pull him before we can take him out!
MNT1996 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 0 clutch at bats today Edit: Well right as I type that Kep gets a hit!
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Ha, swinging first pitch worked this time
MVP Nick Punto Verified Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Max "Effort" Kepler at it again.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Cruz is gonna make em pay in a big way...
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Too late........ it was right there for the taking. Going to have to be against the pen.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Cruz up with a chance to really change the game.
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Come on Nelson.... you only have one job to do...... time to do it.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Nelson again tries to hit it to bemidji when all we needed was a gapper
stringer bell Verified Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Okay Martín, another 1-2-3 inning would be helpful.
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Damn. That was horrwibble. Especially for a "professional hitter". Three batters left a total of 7 runners on base.
PDX Twin Verified Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Nelson again tries to hit it to bemidji when all we needed was a gapper Wouldn't Bemidji be in foul territory?
stringer bell Verified Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Okay Martín, another 1-2-3 inning would be helpful.Something like that. Maybe seven innings for the starter today?
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Perez has had four 1-2-3 innings out of five pitched. Let's see if we can get him a W.
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Best not call for a pitcher's head on the results of a single inning in a game, me thinks.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Perez is at least stabilizing... so that's nice. But it seems like he and Pineda are a lock to give up about 3 runs in every start, which isn't great.
Circus Boy Verified Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 I get off work at 4, so I'll be able to see the last four innings for sure the pace this game is going.
MNT1996 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 To the people that have lost faith in Perez already, the last 3 innings are what Perez can be and what he has been for a large portion of the year for the Twins. He's had a rough stretch, but I believe he is a much better pitcher than what he was at Texas.
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 I will take 3 runs for 6 innings for a starter on this team. I don't know that I would call them quality starts.... I think it should be 2 runs in 6 innings for that designation. But the game does, now. 3 in 6 is a 4.50 innings eater ERA.... and that is mediocre, and not quality. But........ with this offense, it will be very playable. I would like to see Pineda replaced. What an injustice to pay him 8 million this year, and Berrios about a half a million, eh? Such is the player's union, making sure that the new talent doesn't get paid until they start declining (usually..... like Harper)
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 And here I thought with Hernandez moving to ump 3B we'd be experiencing an upgrade over yesterday.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Best not call for a pitcher's head on the results of a single inning in a game, me thinks.I think it’s been more than a single inning, in a single game. He’s not been great the past 4 starts and this looked like it was going to be 5 against a not very good offense
MNT1996 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 What a trash call. Sano deserves to be rewarded for that eye. Absolutely terrible umping behind the plate this series.

MNT1996 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Isn't that a quality start (assuming 6 innings)? Yes and quality starts are great.

h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Isn't that a quality start (assuming 6 innings)? The ordained "quality start". A 4.50 innings eater ERA is quality? It has taken hold, for sure, but I'm not buying.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 I swear, this team should pay me not to watch innings. Caught that disaster second, missed the Twins scoring two runs. Caught the game just in time to watch Cruz leave the bases loaded. I see the opposing team score as much as the Twins... which is pretty astounding, given that this team has THE BEST RECORD IN BASEBALL.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 The ordained "quality start". A 4.50 innings eater ERA is quality? It has taken hold, for sure, but I'm not buying."Taken hold"? The Quality Start stat is ancient.

In my opinion it should depend on how those 3 runs were scored. A pitcher who's pitched 6 innings gave up 1 hit, 2 walks and a 3 run HR is quality, but a pitcher who's pitched 6 innings and gave up 10 hits and 3 runs is not quality. What Perez gave us today is quality for sure. 1 bad inning and that was it.
