On that at bat (and a couple in Seattle) he looked as bad as he did last season. He's "one-handing" his swings, even in the on-deck circle. It's like he's practicing a golf swing or something, just completely waving at the ball, one-handed, while falling out of the box. And those check-swings on strike three(s).

 

It looks just terrible and I hate watching it, so depressing.

My favorite part is that the low and away curve ALWAYS fools him, like he never expects it

LOVE the west coast trips. Games actually start at seven (in Arizona).

As a native Nebraskan, and Big Red lover for 42+ years I would like to object! I would really like to object! I would really like to!

Oh hell...it's really a fine place to live. But I just can't object to a drive through only unless you are just a Midwesterner born and raised.

To be honest, I spent the best summer of my life when I was a kid riding horses and punching cows on my uncle's place near Norfolk, NE. I was 14 or 15 and my cousin Charlie was a year or two younger. That was damn near 60 years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday. Still get an ache in my shoulder every time the weather changes from the time my horse stepped in a prairie dog hole at a dead run and threw my hindend over tea kettle. Can still smell the cow manure I plowed up... wait, maybe that ain't cow manure I'm smelling!

Not to be mean, but LaTroy is awful. Really, really awful.

 

You're not being mean - just your opinion. I personally disagree, don't mind LaTroy at all and enjoy his style.

 

I don't mind the rotation of broadcast partners. It's nice to have a pitcher, a hitter, etc sharing different points of view. Hawkins played for the Twins during a different era than Morneau and I like hearing some Puckett stories, Ken Griffey Jr. stories, etc from Hawkins that Morneau didn't experience.

Sano did not have a spring training and had limited ABs in the minors before getting called up.  

 

Be patient.  He will always strike out and look bad at times.  He only has to hit enough to make the power play and he will.  

 

He will chase balls, but he will also walk a decent amount.  Close your eyes with Sano and check back in a month.

Well, earlier in the year I mocked (playfully, playfully) Castro by taking bathroom breaks during his plate appearances, then he improved his hitting dramatically.

 

Now I am going to take a bathroom break during Sano's plate appearances ... Let him begin to rake!

I’ve had to run to the bathroom during his at bats too. With hand over mouth

Getting so sick of these crappy plate umps. Robo-Ump, hear my plea!

Not sure how anybody can complain about tonight's HP umpire so far.

With as much trouble as Sano has had with breaking balls, I doubt he is going to see a fastball in the strike zone anytime soon.

Arraez might be pulling a Rosario here - get called up for a week, stay for the rest of the season. Obviously SSS applies, but his bat looks legit and great plate discipline so far.
