sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 Happy August Fool's day! Some are born, some are made, but y'all have foolishness thrust upon ye! Today's foolishness is taking a look at the big picture instead of the immediate game. Who'd ever think we'd be here back at the start of the season? Rookie manager and all (and see how well he manages rookies!) Did ya agree with the trades? Are well positioned for the remainder of the season? Some people might call it a stretch run, but i have find it difficult to stretch and run at the same time... That said, we're finishing up a little series at Miami. We done pretty good this road trip, even with one designated hitter tied behind our back... Wouldn't mind facing them again this year! Lineups, weather, and worse jokes to come. And remember, pacing one's self is a good idea... Ya don't want to get burned out, do ya?
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 2, 2019 Author Posted April 2, 2019 Oh, today is April. Right. I have been a bit slow with my A's. But then i haven't had much to compare to since the Santana Trade, as the Twins haven't been too strong with their Ace either. And i coulda done more with this. I coulda leaned away from the trunk and asked what it felt to be next door neighbors (and then explained that when was a proper Minnesotan resident, i lived next to Byers) or i coulda gone out on an absurdly fragile twig about how they had traded Buxton for an entire team, kinda like Tarkenton to Giants was described to me as a kid. And i still could do those things, if the thread continues. But yeah, it don't seem like this caught on. Actually i like to think you all saw through my cunning ploy, that i'm not left handed, nor could i switch game threads while your back was turned. Well done, you! Anyway, thanks for putting up with my peculiar sense of humor.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Mod note: This is a game thread intro that was composed by SampleSize four months ago. Surprisingly (or maybe not), it still works. It is an east coast day game, so lineups should be available shortly. If someone would post them, it would be appreciated. I don't think the original poster could have guessed all the twists and turns in the four months, but we should all admit that the Twins have totally exceeded expectations. Enjoy the game!

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 1, 2019 Author Posted August 1, 2019 Early to bed and early to rise, eh? Oh good. The game thread is already up. Guess i can go back to bed.
TFRazor Verified Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 And they just keep on mashing. Kepler joins the 30 dinger club.
TFRazor Verified Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Max had better get some MVP love this year. He won't win but he'd better get some votes. It would be criminal if he didn't.

Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Kepler has to get mvp consideration, right? Oops just saw I was ninjad
TFRazor Verified Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Max hit homer 30 in game 108. Only twin to get to 30 faster? Harmon Killebrew.

wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Castro singles past Castro. I'm following on radio, is this a Bugs Bunny cartoon?
TFRazor Verified Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Castro singles past Castro. I'm listening to the broadcast and I got really confused there for a minute. I thought Provus was off his rocker
David HK Verified Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 I love the Max-man. What a way to start this game against a good young hurler. But- been wondering for a long time now why he isn't in the 3-hole. Especially with Arraez looking like a prototype leadoff man. except for that being fast thing...
Whammy Verified Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Bert: “7 shutout innings against the St. Louis Cardinals, a very good hitting ball club” (StL is 25th in BA and 23 in OPS)

When putting Max in the leadoff spot, you're probably hoping that he'll come up with Schoop or Buxton on in front of him so he can knock them in.
TFRazor Verified Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Where would this offense be without Pineda? Professional at bat right here
FlauerPauer Verified Member Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 When's the DH coming to the NL. Such a waste of time having the pitcher hit.
