Pineda's and Perez's stuff are so different that they seem on paper to be a good pairing. I'm just bothered by Perez's command so far, after being spoiled by Pineda painting the corners repeatedly.

How do you feel about seeing the electronic strike zone before and during every pitch?

It should be visible for the replay, certainly, but not in real time.

Yeah, keeping Perez stretched out was probabky just as big of a factor as keeping Pineda healthy.

 

Control didn’t really seem to be Perez’s issue in the past, he was just extremely hittable. His first inning here was shaky, but not from a making contact standpoint. I was more encouraged than discouraged.
