wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 Dogs are not pets. They are members of the family.Exactly. If it isn't blatantly obvious when they're around, it's crushingly obvious when they're gone.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 We have a dog - after years of saying no, child #6 finally wore me down. (It was really only #2 and #6 that pushed hard.) I had the "in the military/move too often" trump card to play back when #2 was still at home (and I had my wife on my side), but I retired and we bought a house about six years ago. I had other excuses saved up, but my wife was weak and turned on me. The dog is ok for a dog and he's kind of cute for an eatin', sleepin', and poopin' machine. We went camping for our vacation this summer because we couldn't find someone to watch him so we could go do something civilized instead (preferably involving baseball). It's irrational. But camping with a dog is awesome! I grew up with huskies. Cairns are too terrier-ish to go camping and maintain ones sanity.
tvagle Verified Member Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 OK, so who, at the beginning of the season, had "Ehire" in their betting pool as the platoon partner for Joe Mauer against tough lefties, by the middle of August?I'm sure one of us astute readers and writers predicted this...check out all the good picks here http://twinsdaily.com/topic/31056-td-pre-season-predictions-re-visited/
gil4 Verified Member Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 MLB.tv has been saying "The event will begin shortly" for more than half an hour now. I'm beginning to think they are lying. Any word on how long the delay might be?Never mind. I guess the only thing dumber than my dog is my "smart" TV. I hate MLB.tv. At least it's still 0-0. Jeesh.
tvagle Verified Member Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 I tune in to watch a blockable pitch not get blocked...much like this Game Thread...this game has gone to the dogs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugjWK82oWTo

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2018 Author Posted August 18, 2018 Exactly. If it isn't blatantly obvious when they're around, it's crushingly obvious when they're gone.My friends are texting me lots of pictures but it's not the same... And I'm only just beginning my trip! Back in the motherland MN this weekend then Charlotte, NC Monday - Wednesday
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 He's with my best friends and gets to hang with their dog who he's known since day 1. That gives me comfort, but still, it's not like I can face time him and give him a belly rub. Why can’t you FaceTime him?
curt1965 Verified Member Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 That’s not much of a confidence inducing lineup for the Twins tonight! Predicting a shutout for Boyd.Looking good after 4. Was hoping I was wrong........

gil4 Verified Member Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 Hate to break it to ya, but...Smart enough to know where you're going with that. I might deserve it. That's OK. Talking about dogs was probably a better use of time than watching the game anyway. Note - Stupid MLB.tv app went back to a weather delay for a minute and is now unavailable. I'm watching on my computer now.
David HK Verified Member Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 Nice double play there. Gotta say though, the phrase "first baseman Ehire Adrianza" in the Gameday gives me chills. And heck, Matthew Boyd again. Can we acronym the 'Dreaded Soft-Tossing Lefty" by now, since those guys are obviously Kryptonite to Twins' bats... as in, "Oh, no, it's another DSTL!"
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 No-hitter over. But I still think I'd rather watch the Cleveland Browns preseason game over the Twins at this point.

wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 Good spot for a bunt there. Build on the lead. ..and next pitch drives him in. Just like you draw it up.

Mill1634 Verified Member Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 WOW. Austin crushed that thing. I think he should be able to earn his keep as a RHB against lefties DH/1B next year
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 Kepler pinch hit here? Or Mauer?
tvagle Verified Member Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 Twins could use a little looper to left please perfect spot for St. Joe
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 Of course, if an infielder were to get hurt now, it could be a problem.
tvagle Verified Member Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 That's how you win MoY...start Ehire at 1B know exactly when the righty reliever would be brought in...Brilliant!!!
