Well Rodney came through just like we all thought - by scaring the crap out of us.

Lol ... I think this one sums it up perfectly

Okay, who here expected the Twins would get swept by KC, then sweep the Jays, and then take the first game against the Red Sox behind Kyle Gibson who went 8 innings and threw, what, 120 pitches?

I predicted this exact outcome...right down to the bases loaded strikeout in the bottom of the ninth. By the way, I own this bridge in Brooklyn....

Even though we won, that didn't feel fun.

Felt great for me. Despise Boston. To see all those jackasses on their feet watching their guy get a fastball blown by him to end it and hearing the “awww” from the crowd was very satisfitying to me.

Molitor to Gibby: "Nice job, son, now go ice that arm and put your feet up while you relax and watch Rodney defuse a thermonuclear weapon. Blindfolded."

Peaks and valleys ... you gotta love roller coasters

Yup, and I'm pretty sure the grandma in Parenthood liked them too.

On the other hand, a few Ferris wheel saves wouldn't hurt.

Gawd, I love doing this to the Red Sawks. Just breakin' theah freakin' haaahts!

Movie: Jawbone. Boxing picture. Heavy, heavy underdog, pepped up by his corner man in climactic scene: "He's right there, looking strong and fit. You're in his town, his ring, his people behind him. When that bell rings, I want you to walk across that ring, and break his heart..."
DING!!

Yeah ... but ... doing this to the Red Sox only helps the Yankees ... which do you prefer?

We were just at Valleyfair yesterday. My first time on Wild Thing.

Road that thing twice on the same day. It wasn't better the second time around, strangely enough.

I love them ... but ... can't ride 'em ... vertigo gets me

Please have a bull pen game tomorrow....don't pitch Lance Lynn. Please. Not after this win.

Well, I mean it kinda would be anyway. It will take only 3-4 innings for Lynn to throw 120 pitches.

So did I actually. Our foster daughter rode it a total of 5 times I think.

the gal I was with wanted to ride it and I had promised my daughter I would go with her.

Fortunately, I'm now "aged out" of riding such contraptions.

Huh, i figured a survivor of countless Chicago cab rides would hardly bat an eye. Hope the FRE doesn't cause it to flare up.

Can I open my eyes now?

YOU’RE ALIVE!!!! Given your age we were concerned you didn’t live through FRE.

I certainly hope ash and son sang Sweet Caroline for the Boston faithful

We lost our Wifi signal midway through the game and never really got it back (note to Carole: ashburysteven did too), but yes, we did the Ba-Ba-Ba thing.

And I never got worried during the FRE: the leadoff hit was legitimate, but after two outs, he was just toying with them, and being the master showman for the Fenway crowd. :)

I swear, when Rodney is called in, they should institute the minor-league extra-innings rule, where they start with a runner on second - he would signal for an IBB to his first batter, and then simply get down to business. It would save everyone a lot of time.

Concur. Blindfolded is the preferred method for relaxing and watching Rodney. Turning the sound down may help, too.

Yes it was. This was absolutely the most exciting game I have seen all year. This is why I suffer through all the losses.

There were a lot of 1-2-3 innings for both sides, so the entire game wouldn't really qualify as exciting IMO. I had prepped my son to be amazed by the Boston fans, and they were pretty quiet through six. (It bears repeating that we were in an alcohol-free zone. :) ) They started to get into it in the bottom of the 7th, and from there on the place was rocking, increasingly so in the eighth and then the ninth. Each game has its own rhythm (some games, Sweet Caroline is simply electric), the crowd interacts with that rhythm, and all things considered it was a pretty fine game for a visiting fan to attend.

We're going again tonight. Bringing Mrs Ash, and will interact with ashburyjulia who will also be there somewhere in the park with some work friends.
