VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Well, that worked out well for Gibson. AGAIN.
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 f--uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuudddddddgggggggggge
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2018 Author Posted June 3, 2018 Well that went about as poorly as possible.
Platoon Verified Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 I won't go back and look at the innings or appearances, but it seems like Pressley appears in every game. And isn't really bad at all.... But can one go to the well too often.
OldTimeTwinkie Provisional Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Gibson has got to tell Molitor to take a hike next time.
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Time to let GIbson win/lose a game on his own.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 They often appeared in the same inning. Will there be a quickening? There can be only one.

Yikes... we're down 7-1 and the real team is losing too. Ugh.
bighat Verified Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Inexcusable pitching effort by Pressley.
Platoon Verified Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Pitches 26,27,28,30,2, and 3. 6 out of last 8 games?
FattCrapps Verified Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 I wish I could look up Pressly's stats when pitching in a close game. I've only seen him be effective when the game is out of reach. He's a choker.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2018 Author Posted June 3, 2018 LaMarre's starting to hit the ball a lot better the past few days... I like having him out there over Grossman, both for his defense and bat.
Blake Verified Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 I wish I could look up Pressly's stats when pitching in a close game. I've only seen him be effective when the game is out of reach. He's a choker.According to his stats, he's pretty good. However, his WHIP and BB per 9 are not good. As we just found out. https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.htm?id=12782 And I'n not sure I buy the strand rate, because I seem to recall more than a few times he's not gotten the job done. Unless the stat is based on stranding his own runners versus inherited runners.

I've only seen him be effective when the game is out of reach. He's a choker.Let's take a look at the splits: With RISP, batters hit .746 OPS (.744 OPS with men on) against Pressly compared to a career .697 OPS.

FattCrapps Verified Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 According to his stats, he's pretty good. How do you look up his stats when pitching in a game decided by 2 runs or less (when he enters)?

He's a choker.Ah, found it here: https://www.foxsports.com/mlb/minnesota-twins-team-stats?season=2018&category=PITCHING+RELIEF&group=1&sort=15&time=0&pos=0&qual=0&sortOrder=0&splitType=128&statID=0 If I'm reading it correctly, Ryan has an abysmal 31% inherited runners strand rate.
drock2190 Verified Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 John Ryan Murphy is batting .278 and has 8 homeruns this year! Hicks and Murphy both did better went they left the Twins.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Whoever is manning the camera that covers left field is drunk as hell today.
Blake Verified Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 How do you look up his stats when pitching in a game decided by 2 runs or less (when he enters)? No idea. However, if you look at the second link I provided, Ryan has an abysmal inherited runner strand rate.
GCTF Verified Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Didn't Pressley pitch last night?I believe he's pitched in every game this season.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2018 Author Posted June 3, 2018 How do you look up his stats when pitching in a game decided by 2 runs or less (when he enters)?I found it on Baseball Reference (look at Pressly's splits): Within 2 Runs: .276/.338/.430 (.768 OPS)Within 1 Run: ..287/.361/.468 (.828 OPS) Yes, he is noticeably worse with a small lead.
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Good recovery by Rogers with a big assist by Wilson.
twinssouth Provisional Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Didn't Pressley pitch last night? Yes
Blake Verified Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 I think Molitor manages by putting players in and expecting them to succeed rather than putting players in position to succeed.
Circus Boy Verified Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Top of the order up. Let's go get us some points!
