stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 Looking at the box score and Buxton’s .167 average. Does anyone know the lowest BA to qualify? That would be 3.1 PAs per scheduled game.
jkcarew Verified Member Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 Nice Ferris Bueller's Day Off reference, Twinssporto! Just for the fun of it....Ferris Bueller's Day Off was released on June 11, 1986... Twins lost to the Rangers when reliever Roy Lee Jackson gave up 4 runs in the top of the 16th inning. He was the Twins 3rd pitcher in the game to that point. Allan Anderson went the first 10 (in his MLB debut!!, no less); Pete Atherton the next 4.Texas used 2 pitchers for the victory. Charlie Hough went 13 innings and Mitch Williams 3, for the victory. Kirby Puckett was 4-6 with a double, RBI, and a walk, 9 put-outs in center field and an assist.

jkcarew Verified Member Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 Gibson, How could you!! GoodrumI'm not happy. But I'm kinda happy for Niko. He grinded his way to the majors. Also, I'm sure many watching him this week remember with fondness watching his dad play very good football for the Vikings for a number of years.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 Looks like we got the old Gibby back the last 2 startsThe old gibby would've given up 6 runs by now ... I'm happy if a pitcher can limit the game to 3 runs ... I think that's very respectable for a back of the rotation pitcher. But he's at his limit now.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 Looks like we got the old Gibby back the last 2 startsStrange the ways of english...old Gibby refers to the earlier pitching when actually he was younger...
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 Hope we can overcome the Goodrum bomb.

wavedog Verified Member Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 The comments on the game thread today are like our Offense - few and far-between. Been in meetings so just joining - hopefully we get some runs here at the end of the game.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 I think that when people are at work, their participation is curtailed somewhat. I can pop in for a comment or two here and there, but I can't sit here commenting, nor can I watch the game.
wavedog Verified Member Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 This isn't a hyperbole: Our bottom of the lineup is the worst in baseballYes, Chris Carter's average is looking pretty good in comparison and he can be counted on to knock one out of the park from time to time.
TwinsCD Verified Member Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 I hate to break FSN's graphics producer's bubble but a successful outing by a pitcher does not involve giving up a home run to Niko freakin Goodrum.
wavedog Verified Member Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 That was a nice At bat Dozier working the walk - c'mon 3-run rally.
cmoss84 Verified Member Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 This isn't a hyperbole: Our bottom of the lineup is the worst in baseballIt is. Just thinking out loud here, but once we get Sano back and if we use Carter, our lineup (without Mauer) will look something like this: Dozier 2BKepler RFRosario LFEscobar SSSano 3BMorrison 1BBuxton CFGarver CCarter DH I like the idea of using Carter behind Garver-might give him a little better protection. Who knows where Buxton should be.
mickeymental Verified Member Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 i guess every dog has his day, but yesterday the bottom third of the order was 3-for-5 with 1bb, 4r and 3rbi. that’s not counting max’s 1-for-2 with 1r in the eight hole after pinch hitting.
ewen21 Verified Member Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 Who knows where Buxton should be. If wasn't the hyped up, Baseball America #1 prospect, second pick in the first round, "five tool player" the pundits claimed he was he would be in Rochester.
FattCrapps Verified Member Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 Wow what a **** 2-1 call to Kepler. Wasn't close to the plate.

Who knows where Buxton should be. Yes, and I like the power threat as well... Usually your 7-8-9 guys can be counted on to at least have a near league-average BA... but no, all 3 today are at .200 or belowI know we're at a tough place with injuries, but seriously? None of these guys see the field on a contender as much as they do for the Twins... Adrianza SHOULD NOT be starting on any teamNick Gordon should be given his chance... why are we waiting until Polanco gets back? To create a logjam excuse? The offense is supposed to be the absolute best part of this team and it's not
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 Is it even appropriate to compliment a line up on its bottom? Lineup has to come through somehow, top or bottom, left or right.

Wilson: .174 average, OPS of .584, cool, he hit his first HR in two years Buxton: .167 average, OPS of .408, sheesh Cave: 1-8 with a dinger... 3 poor AB's today Thankfully Robbie and LoMo are heating up a bit
