We all might learn a thing or two watching these whiz kids operate

Baseball America is a bit more conservative in their assessment of the Yankee's prospects.  Littell sounds a lot like a Haley type (wasn't Haley ranked at that level by MLB.com last winter, as well?)  and Enns sounds like a LOOGY.   Who knows?

The Twins had to do that trade.  The fact that they "ate" $4M makes me think that they are not done and will recover that by other trade(s), be it Santana, Dozier etc.  Kintzler will likely go, but his $ owed is negligible.

Good beginning so far.  They got 3 arms close to the majors.   I suspect that we will see Enns sooner than later with the Twins

Write up on minor league ball. I'm liking this deal more and more. The question with Littell, from where I stand is whether or not this season is a breakout and the beginning of something more or just an outlier... If it's a breakout, we got a real good pitcher. I'm guessing the Yankees think otherwise or they would not have traded him.

Yeah, I thought that was interesting. Pre-season, Sickles graded Ynoa as B-/C+, and he was so-so in ETown. He graded both Enns and Littel as C+ and described the whole group of prospects in the C+ category for the Yankees as being especially "interesting". Obviously, Littell in particular appears to possibly be breaking out.

I contrasted it against what the Sox got for Melky Cabrera, a C+ prospect, A.J. Puckett, whose stock is trending in the opposite direction, and another guy who didn't even garner a C grade from Sickels in a weak system.

A cursory look at this comparison gives me a good feeling about this transaction. I hope these kinds of incremental baseball moves are a constant ingredient in Falvine's recipe.

I love this description, and I agree wholeheartedly. Consistently adding value during these seemingly minor, incremental transactions can be such a boon for a franchise over time.

Littell is 21, and doing extremely well in High A and AA. Ynoa is 19, and struggling (although SSS does apply) in advanced rookie ball. This is a very rudimentary analysis, but I'd say Littell>Ynoa, so to get Enns as well is a very nice move by Falvine. Unless the Braves are in love with Ynoa, they have to be pissed.

why would they be pissed? probably could have got the same deal had they thrown in 4 million..

Great trade Falvine and Levine. Now keep stockpiling arms by trading Santana, Kintzler and Dozier, then send a bunch of prospects off to Oakland for Sonny Gray. Now we finally have our 27 year old Ace that's under contract until 2019 or 20.

what? Enns stats since the start of 2014: 264 innings 1.50 ERA 1.06 WHIP 8.58K/9 and 3.27BB/9... If thats not great IDK what is

Given his age to competition, those k and bb rates are just okay, not great.

Huh? hes 22 and has a 3.2ish era in 28 AA starts?

IMO, ERA is completely meaningless in regards to projecting prospects.

Check out Stewart's k and bb rates, they are pretty ugly.

My opinion only, I'm guessing Santana is still a Twin come next season. Despite being inconsistent since his bug start to the season, he's still been productive and has pitched some of his best games of Kate with zero support. He provides a solid, experienced arm and leadership for this team/staff as well.

I firmly believe this FO to make an addition of a quality veteran starter in the off season. Will that be via FA or trade I just don't know. But if it's by trade, acquiring additional talent like these recent moves makes it more palatable to lose quality prospects as you haven't necessarily depleted your milb system.

2018 Rotation:

New Guy

Berrios

Santana

Mejia

1 of potentially, Slegers, Gonsalves, Romero, Jorge, Enns and possibly May.

Exactly. His ERA is phenomenal but the rest of the stats are merely good. His FB also barely tops 90. He certainly could have MLB success though. And I think it is almost guaranteed that he gets 5 starts with the Twins this year. I am interested in seeing what he can do.

Enns wasn't just included because of possible 40 man roster issues this offseason. He was probably included because they had take somebody off the 40 man right now by trading for Garcia.

I suspect we will see both Enns and Sleegers shortly depending on today's action. Enns will likely replace Colon. If Erv is traded, I think Sleegers gets added too.

I would expect Enns to be up as soon as Colon or Gibson moves on.

As has been mentioned, he's as good as anyone not named Ervin or Jose that the Twins have trotted out there this year.

Yeah, markos, that's why I'm a proponent of always being a conditional seller at the deadline 1) from your surplus; 2) for a price you have set or for more (an overpay) and never less; and 3) for prospects whose price (future value) is discounted because of the risks associated with being a ways from MLB.

I learned a long time ago to ignore any and all Radke comps. Brad Radke was a very good pitcher without great stuff. He pitched to his absolute ceiling, which should never be used as a basis of comparison to a prospect because literally any player has a remote chance of playing to their absolute ceiling.

This is one of the most profound statements I have ever read on TD.  I mean this in the most positive way.  It is 100% correct and belongs in the Hall of Fame of baseball quotes.
