I hope he no-hits those Yankee jagoffs...

Kinda think that might not happen, but by gum, wouldn't it be sweeter than sweet?

I think Gibson getting a no-no today in Houston is probably 20 times more likely.

And, honestly, I'd hate if it happened because then we'd be stuck with him for the rest of the season ... and probably next season, too.

Ugh, not a fan of Colon going up against the Yankees lineup after he had a poor start in AAA. That's going to be an ugly outing.

I'm guessing Gee gets DFA'd unless they put Haley on the 60 day DL, but I don't think that'll happen.

Does Gee have an opt-out date? I thought I heard that when he signed.

Because he was added to the 25-man roster briefly, did Gee get his salary upped to a million bucks? Which in Twins land is a reason not to DF-him for assignment, especially if he is pitching well.

The Twins are only on the hook for $300,000+ for Colon at the moment.

Haley is pitching at Rochester and will need a roster spot soon. He can only pitch so long in rehab...and he is the Twins Rule 5 hot pickup. Breslow is also due back. So between Boshers/Hildenberger/Pressly, who goes, if not all three (unless Vargas gets his ticket punched yet again).

While those guy are awful, they're at least young so optimism from the Wonder Twins is understandable.

This is a 44-year-old who got teed off on in the NL and then served up AAA batting practice last week. The fact that anyone thinks this is a good or justifiable move blows my mind.

He didn't just start pitching in 2017. Look at the previous four years. It's doubtful, but there's a non zero chance he helps the Twins. A much higher chance than "those guys" IMO.

There's a reason he was given a $12m contract for this season.

I'm aware that he started pitching in 1917. Time catches up to everyone and it appears to have caught up to Big Sexy in a hurry.

Then it's the perfect time to see what Gonzalves or Romero have, not waaaaaaaaaay past their prime old timers. Sorry ... but this sucks on any level, whether the Twins are in the hunt or not.

Might be the post I most strongly agree with ever. So far,i like one move by this front office, and actively hate several.

I'm actually pretty neutral on most decisions, as I do take a wait and see on most things, but this move? I really, really dislike as I don't see upside for any reason, whether in the hunt or not. And maybe the new FO doesn't have confidence in what they are seeing in the minors despite some of performances thus far? I don't know but if true that isn't something that is easily correctable and more of an indictment on the past regime than the present. Again, I'm playing it somewhat neutral, but this Colon 'experiment' just ughs me on any level.

Then again, if I'm proven wrong, I'll be eating crow for dinner.

Colon will easily give up 7 runs against the Yankees. Dude is toast and the Twins should be ashamed of themselves for this kind of move.

Romero and Gonsalves are not ready to make extended starts in the majors, they'd get lit up.

Either could probably survive a spot start and perhaps Romero can be effective out of the bullpen, but it won't sustain. Jorge was the most advanced and still not ready and it was pretty clear what happened to him.

I appreciate the disgust with cycling through retreads and particularly Colon, but they just aren't going to expose prospects. It will result in bad performance and potentially negative developmental consequences.

There's a small chance Colon catches something, and if not he's quickly cut without consequence.

It's giving one start to a guy who was an All-star last year but is probably done. It's not worthy of an intense reaction either way.

Colon starting tells you the FO thinks there isn't anybody else. The AA guys aren't ready and they must not like Slegers or Hurlbut very much. I guess I don't understand why Gee wasn't considered but Molitor said something about a low strikeout rate. Besides, he pitched last night to get fully stretched out so the timing was off. Bartolo gets the start because he's no worse than the other alternatives.

Clearly the FO has no confidence in anyone else. And they're right!

I thought the whole point of signing Colon was to give the Twins one last good chance to steal back Johan's third Cy Young before Bartolo heads off into retirement. I think we can all agree it's high time that injustice is corrected. Now, if they'd hurry up and parole O.J. I hear he has experience with this type of operation.

He's getting more than one start regardless of how the first one goes.

I didn't see an issue with bringing him over, I would have like to see Gee called up before Bartolo, so as to let Bartolo get at least one more minor league start under his belt before coming up. It seems like Gee has done pretty much everything he has been asked to do, give him at least a shot, he has done ok in the past too. I hope Bartolo does good, I'd like to see him rekindle a little of that Mojo he had working with the Mets last year. Pretty sure he has the same crap he had last year when he was 43, just needs to find it.

When Colon throws his first pitch tonight, he will be the 28th pitcher to appear for the Twins this season, including Chris Gimenez.  They used 29 all of last year, including Eduardo Escobar.  8 have appeared in 3 or fewer games.

Mejia looked like a Cy Young candidate the first time around last night too. He didn't make it through 6 innings.

FWIW, Colon this year for Atlanta was hit early and often.

Colon waited until third time through.

Colon waited until third time through.

Problem was third time through came in the 5th inning. Meaning he had plenty of baserunners the first two trips too. He just pitched out of it.

Gee, what will the Twins do now with the rotation? I guess the question is how many starts will Colon be given? They gave Tepesch one. Turley 3. I figure they give Colon 4 or 5.
