Yeah, I'm not too upset about passing on Greene. I wanted a college pitcher so I'll be ok with McKay. I might want three college pitchers, depending on how the draft falls.

I want them to draft Greene, but I'm with you. Any of these guys has a chance to be elite. Mckay has chances on both sides of the ball. It's all about getting the odds in your favor. If you do that enough you will be a contender.

Man, if they take Lewis they better have a damn good explanation and if they don't spend all of their draft pool I'm going to go ballistic.

If they fill it in with a few hundred K here and there in later picks, that is useless. After pick 40 or so, it is a random walk.

It's an underslot deal and supposedly killed it in workouts. Big fan of the pick especially if it's underslot and we get good high school pitching at 35 or 37. The top pitching prospects didn't do much for me this year.

I have a hard time believing that they haven't made a decision yet.

'The Twins are expected to select either Brendan McKay or Royce Lewis with the first overall pick.'

'Despite the fact that California high-schooler Hunter Greene is the consensus top prospect in this year’s MLB Draft class, the Twins apparently aren’t interested in making him the first high-school right-handed pitcher ever to be selected first overall. That’s been publicly known for a while now. It was more widely thought, however, that Minnesota might be interested in Vanderbilt right-hander Kyle Wright, who is unanimously ranked as the top collegiate righty in this draft class.'

But someone is going to fall regardless. I don't want to go cheap at 1/1 just so I can get the #29 guy at 35. Top guys tumble on their own - Hudson, Buehler, Funkhowser, etc.

Yep. It's like that commentator was saying. You don't overthink it and take a 2nd tier player at 1-1.

With our pitching the way it is, the idea that this team would take a position player at 1:1 ticks me off.

I have wanted Greene for long time and that hasn't changed!

The Twins wouldn't take Lewis (assuming they do) if they liked one of the pitchers a lot. So while they certainly should maximize their bonus pool, I don't think it's accurate to see Lewis as a budget-oriented selection.

Don't worry everyone. I'm here. Got back from a ten day vacation last week, so I've been busy at work catching up and not had much time to be on here. But I wouldn't miss the draft!

Welcome back.

I have a sneaking suspicion that they're not going to take who everyone expects (Wright or McKay).

I just don't know how how you can justify taking one of those two with the #1 overall pick. The upside isn't there. It's got to be Greene or Lewis in my mind. I'd also consider Gore, but it sounds like he's out.

I'm probably wrong, because Twins, but that's my two cents.

I do and a risk adverse pick to boot.  And ridiculous if not selecting a pitcher.

people have been saying Lewis or McKay. it's been written and was just said on MLB Network.

Lewis will have to climb over a lot of SS.  i wonder if the new FO will punt on the previous "talents" that were deemed to be future studs.

Well, if the report that the scouts wanted Lewis and analytics wanted McKay is true, it means that Falvey is getting swayed by his scouts.

I mean, maybe Lewis is the next Jeter but this seems like a bad pick for the Twins.

With all the times the scouts have seen Greene, including just a few days ago, it's pretty clear they aren't sold on him whatsoever. It's not like they haven't taken a look at the kid.
