In all seriousness, I realize Ervin Santana's not anyone's definition of an ace, but if you just go by results, since the middle of last season, he's been about as good as anyone in the big leagues.

In all seriousness, I realize Ervin Santana's not anyone's definition of an ace, but if you just go by results, since the middle of last season, he's been about as good as anyone in the big leagues.

 

He's a smart veteran and he's getting outs, and in doing so he's providing the younger pitchers with valuable leadership by example.

 

In sports psychology this is known as The "Look what Zog do!" Effect.
