Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 The Twins young OF hitting 7-8-9 today. Ouch. It's the right decision - Buxton has been awful while Kepler and Rosario struggle against LHP - but still ouch.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Man, half that White Sox lineup is unrecognizable.
spinowner Provisional Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Ouch. It's the right decisionAgree. The manager should manage based on the conditions of that particular game. Who's hot, who's not, handedness, weather, etcetcetc.
Darius Verified Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Can't figure out why a guy who does nothing well but walk would be the #2 hitter in this lineup. I'd much rather have Mauer, Polanco, or Kepler. Hell, maybe even Roasario. He's capable of an XBH once in a while. I'll hear: Left handed pitcher. Grossman isn't good against any pitcher.
BoofBonser Verified Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Either Dozier's deaf or our outfield has no voice because he never gives up a pop fly to the outfield Or maybe it's a "I can catch better than you so shut up" kinda thing
stringer bell Verified Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Anybody else notice that Sano is Sanó this year?
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 That was a really, really nice AB. Excellent. Take notes Byron.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Another productive AB by Castro. Big inning here I think.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 We gotta get them over right there.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 First strikeout of the season for Polanco.
Darius Verified Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Really irritating watching this team try and hit with RISP. Now 1-20 in this series. Anytime an opposing needs a K, they hand them over on a silver platter by swinging at junk well outside of the strike zone.
DJSim22 Provisional Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Watching a major leaguer try to bunt and look like a little leaguer doing it is so aggravating.

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 "Never give up," - Winston ChurchillI was always attributing "Never give up, never surrender!" to capt. Kirk in Galaxy Quest... Shows what i know.
BoofBonser Verified Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 You're a very frustrating guy right now Bux
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Ugh... they're 1 for 21 with RISP in this series. This looks like last year's offense.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 I know people have slumps and what not, but this is ridiculous. He looks lost up at the plate.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 I feel bad for Buxton. Nothing is clicking at the plate right now.

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Alternating L & R batters, like it's supposed to be. Makes it more difficult for the opposing manager to use his bullpen.But... odd number of batters in line up that loops... How can... alternate... oh. I see. Switch hitters defy logic.
DJSim22 Provisional Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Ugh... they're 1 for 21 with RISP in this series. This looks like last year's offense. Which is exactly why they should have put the bunt down and moved runners over. I'm not suggesting this needs to always be a bunt situation, but when you are not hitting it is a no brainer.
Darius Verified Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Molly needs to start bunting more. He's going to leave a lot of runs on the bases this year by letting some of these kids swing away with nobody out. No excuse to repeatedly leave guys guys in scoring position with no outs by racking up Ks. If the baseball IQ isn't there, don't reward them by letting them swing away.
DJSim22 Provisional Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Buxton strikes out once again. I though his last swing looked even longer than normal. Especially odd considering an inside pitch.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Sanchez and Narvez, never heard of them.
bighat Verified Member Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 I feel bad for Buxton. Nothing is clicking at the plate right now.I feel bad for him too. Embarrassed for him. As a fan, I'm embarrassed that our team has a guy going through this. I am wondering if the Twins are going to sit him, or if he's going to make history....maybe he already has? I think at this point Grossman/DanSan are going to have to platoon in the outfield. Buxton's going to have to ride the pine for a few months, gradually be brought along, and maybe he'll find his stroke in August. The Twins are hurting the team, Buxton, and the fans every time they put him in that batter's box. Maybe have a pitcher hit and have a DH hit for Bux?

I'm not suggesting this needs to always be a bunt situation, but when you are not hitting it is a no brainer. Disagree. It's only the second inning and only the fifth game of the season. A feature of this lineup is that they have decent threats 1-9. Don't give away outs and the other thing is getting a guy to third with one out is far from a guarantee of getting even one run home.
