twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Captains log, stardate 94307.18, My negative self is under restraint in sickbay. My own indecisiveness growing. My force of will steadily weakening. On the planet, condition critical. And so here we are, 165 days into what is still on track to be the worst season in franchise history since the arrival of the team in the TC's. The words of Captain James T. Kirk, pretty much epitomize my current state of being when it comes to watching this team.I wonder if, in like a reverse kind of way, the '82 Twins will start assembling like the '72 Dolphins do. Their record of futility in Twins lore is in jeopardy and their immortality threatened. My guess is corks will be popped if the day comes that the 2016 team wins it's 61st game, thus ensuring the '82 team remains in the history books another year.Things to think about.1. The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry. Was never more true after last nights win. Mollie is likely still shaking his head on how that team beat the Tigers 8-1. Back to the drawing board today, tough task.2. Job interviews. The Twins are in the midst of conducting interviews for a very important role with the team. Jim Pohlad is more than up to the challenge and has been diligently preparing. Don't worry folks, he's got this.3. Brian Dozier.I recently read an old BP scouting report on Dozier. If serves as a pretty good reminder of the often futile nature of predicting young talent.Dozier should take advantage of what is a golden opportunity. He should be able to hit .270-.280, but the question is what he will do around the batting average. Over a full season, 5-10 home runs and 10-15 stolen bases are realistic expectations4. BREAKING NEWS, 2017 TWINS SCHEDULE RELEASED!!A brief perusal of the schedule shows 22 of the first 25 games against divisional foes, so in other words the playoff suspense should be fleeting.5. Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Counterpoint to Kirk's downer.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 8. Jordan Schafer (L) LFNope, wrong Schafer. Jordan's a pitcher in the Dodgers minor league system.
Blake Verified Member Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 A little Floyd madness for the madness of the season.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2016 Author Posted September 14, 2016 Nope, wrong Schafer. Jordan's a pitcher in the Dodgers minor league system.Funny, that was copy and pasted from Baseball Press. They've since corrected it, and so have I. If that's what you want to call it.
twinssporto Verified Member Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Did the Twins hire McLeod yet? Drove by Target Field today and saw this sign still out front... Hey Twinsnorth49! Thanks for the great intro and instructions on posting pics. Much appreciated!
70charger Verified Member Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 I skimmed down to the lineups, and you definitely got me with the '82 Twins. "Let's see who's pitching... Jack O'Who now?"

twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2016 Author Posted September 14, 2016 When your DH hits 7th and his name is Robbie Grossman, it's not a good omen. Unless of course.....
stringer bell Verified Member Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 I wonder how much hot water Mr. Rosario is in. Starting both Grossman and Schafer against a right hander. Or maybe Molitor knows what he has in Rosario and wants to see what Robbie and Logan can do? I don't think so, I think Eddie did or said something the manager didn't like.
Guest Guests Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 #2 hitter John Castino: talk about bad luck. Wasn't 1982 his first full year back after major back problems? He switched to 2B full time that year and has a 13.5 dWAR rating from Fangraphs. Then, in 1983, he had 4.5 bWAR, then major back surgery in 1984 ended his career.

70charger Verified Member Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Hoo boy. This could get interesting. And it's already starting to. Come on, Duffey.
snepp Verified Member Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 When your DH hits 7th and his name is Robbie Grossman, it's not a good omen.Unless of course..... ....your name is Jason Tyner.
Rosterman Verified Member Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 The luv for Logan Schafer continues. Cherington grabs a co-VP job with Toronto. If he was a viable candidate, he could've been in an office starting tomorrow. Sign. I'm wondering what the other team's scouting reports on the current Twins are like?

twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2016 Author Posted September 14, 2016 Ok, you can have the low strike or the high strike, but you can't have both. Unless the ump and starting pitcher are both from Venezuela.
