nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Yeah... It's been to town a few times. I got some connections... I could lick it if the mood strikes me. How are you not always in the mood for that?
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 This isn't a "blown" game though, and to be fair to Jepsen, he never should have been or should be counted on to be a teams closer/shut down type guy. In reality he is a solid 7th inning type, or very awesome 6th inning type. (Not a knock on him by any means, just the reality)It's not a blown save, but it's going to go down as a loss. Yeah, I know he's in over his head, but Molitor keeps trusting him there for some asinine reason. When you blow 6/7 games in the first 32 games, how can you not demote him to at least the 8th inning?

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Will that be enough to take the 9th inning work away from Jep and let May work the 9th I believe so but Paul doesn't call me.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Well for the first time in my life I will see a 100 loss season for the twins. Let's hope it's less than 110. If it brings about changes, big changes, so be it.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 I'm sick of Molitor letting Jepsen (and others) work through their troubles. May is clearly the better late inning reliever. As soon as the Rickert (sp?) doubled, Molitor needed to pull Jepsen; it was clear Jepsen was having trouble getting anything over. This team is miserable to watch; they are listless and guided by risk-aversion. I think the coaching is more to blame than the roster construction. Cuddyer for manager? Hunter for benchcoach? Normally I would agree, but its a tie game in the 9th inning, with this offense struggling to score at most times this season, who are you going to toss in at that point? May was already spent. For better or worse Jepsen is our 2nd or 3rd best RP overall, I don't mind keeping him in at that point.I do blame Ryan however for having a team where Jepsen is our 2nd best option.....
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Can someone post a link to the Arcia play? I really want to see it. You need to see it... It was actually kind of awesome.

Whammy Verified Member Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Can someone post a link to the Arcia play? I really want to see it.I'll give him credit, he was selling out to save the game. The dive was a little awkward. The ball got past his glove and body, but his flailing foot kicked it 60' directly to Santana, almost on the fly.

Though, I still think May should be in the rotation. At this point, I basically want the Twins to either go on fire, and somehow win 90 games then win it all, or go down in flames, lose 100+ and force the Pohlads to fire Ryan, Molitor and the rest. Looks like the latter is much more likely at this stage unfortunately.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 The Twins are consistent in their use of May. They pitch him when behind, when tied, and when ahead. He might have more innings than some starters! Source?

Tonkin. If the pitcher can't get any thing over but one pitch, you pull him, any pitcher that can get more than one pitch over the plate would have been better than Jepsen. Right, had Terry Ryan spent 30 million on the bullpen this team would be winning! For all the criticisms we can throw at the Front Office, had they done what we wanted (a CFer, bullpen help) this team would still have an atrocious record. Every player outside of Park, Mauer, and maybe Arcia is under performing, that's not roster construction problems...

Yep We needed to acquire at least two top of the pile pen arms via trade or FA or steroids. Didn't do it and now... well... at least we still have our sense of humor.
