Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 This team sucks. It shouldn't suck like this, but it does. I'm turning this game off. Good night.I can't tell if this is sarcasm?
Jham Verified Member Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 I forget, is Tonkin related to a former Twin somehow? He's made 2 appearances and DickBert haven't reminded viewers yet.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Getting close to having seen quite enough of Tonkin.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Gotta love Rosario one handing a catch about 6 minutes after completely misplaying another. Ah, youth.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Berrios looked like he burned enough energy for two starts. He was nervous as a cat the whole time. I'm surprised he lasted into the 5th. You could see why the team is excited about this kid. Great stuff. Good mix of heaters. a tight, low curve, and a change that bends half a foot to the right, just the right amount. Within two or three starts, we're going to see a very good pitcher. Yeah, it's often tempting for a manager to try to get even a new kid through that statistically all-important fifth inning even when they're clearly running out of gas, but luckily it turned into, if not a no-brainer, then at least a low-brainer to pull him. If there's ever a time to err on the side of the quick hook...
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Can anyone confirm Meyer is alive for me?
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 If a game of pickup hoops breaks out during a rain delay, how many bullpens can field a 6' 9'' center? Actually, this very game would be perfect for Alex Meyer to step in for a few innings. Now that the team is down by 3, Meyer can come in for some low leverage work.
David HK Verified Member Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 I've been behind Gulfa for the last couple of years-- electric stuff, live arm, and got really jerked around on the Rochester shuttle. But, he's not taking hold of what amounts to his last opportunities as a Twin. Geez, that's about the fattest 0-2 pitch you can possibly throw. I think he hits the waiver wire shortly. If one, just one of those hyped-up college fireballers could step up.... anyone? Bueller?
tobi0040 Verified Member Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 It was weird that he didn't pitch two nights ago but Nolasco went 7 1/3 last night. Not a lot of time to get Meyer into that game. And putting Meyer into tonight's situation in the fifth would have been bad management. You don't do that to a guy in his first appearance.Weird is not the word I would have used. Molitor exhausted every other option first, then had him slotted between the options and a right fielder coming in.
tobi0040 Verified Member Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Can anyone confirm Meyer is alive for me?We have visual evidence. Look about four posts up
jimmer Verified Member Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 yeah, I would have put Meyer in today once Berrios was pulled.
David HK Verified Member Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Well, we need to get a 20-25 minute inning of our own going-
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 yeah, I would have put Meyer in today once Berrios was pulled. So you'd put a guy in for the first time in a 3-2 game with no outs and runners in scoring position? Sounds like a good way to set a guy with spotty control up for failure. We all want to see Meyer and I'll be pissed if he doesn't appear tonight but let's be smart about this.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 If one, just one of those hyped-up college fireballers could step up.... anyone? Bueller? That's one of the most disappointing aspects of the May (and potentially Meyer) bullpen vs. rotation debate: it shouldn't be an issue in the first place, because a team that has drafted college relief arms as much as the Twins have should already have found a bullpen May without using the May there.

I also would have already put him in a game.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Yes, I would without question, easily. That's a bad position to put a player in his first appearance (though I agree he should have appeared before tonight).

jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 I believe I'm seeing a different look on Danny Santana's face. He appears to be less insecure than before. He looks like he's beginning to believe in himself.
ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Rosario lacks good judgment; risking getting thrown out at third when down by three runs. Santana saves his a$$.
DiscGolfer Verified Member Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Booing the guy who made 2 errant throws to first on a pickoff attempt?

All a part of our plan to move to a 12 man rotation or is it 13 man pen.... It's science.
tobi0040 Verified Member Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 If Meyer is not the next pitcher he won't pitch tonight unless the game gets out of hand or goes 17 innings
LaBombo Verified Member Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Can anyone confirm Meyer is alive for me? Don't know if this helps, but I'm pretty sure I saw his car in the Costco parking lot earlier today...
jimmer Verified Member Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Rosario lacks good judgment; risking getting thrown out at third when down by three runs. Santana saves his a$$.Rosario is pretty overrated after having a decent but not anywhere near great rookie year.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Bremer's inflated long fly call not quite enough to carry that ball into the seats...
tobi0040 Verified Member Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Excuse me while I wipe the egg off my face. But I have just been informed Meyer is slotted to start Saturday. A friend of a friend works for the Twins and he is 5 for 5 regarding accuracy of information
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 I think I could steal a base off this team. You'd get your base no doubt... but at your age... you'd be very stiff afterwards. You'd hide under your seat until everybody goes home and locks the doors. And then you'd walk onto the field take your base and you'd go hide under the seat with it until the doors open in the morning. All that time under the seat would make you stiff.
