Bring back Span

I want to see my twins bring back Denard Span. Buxton is clearly not ready for MLB pitchers and now Hicks is gone. Span fills the need in CF and the black hole that has been our lead off hitter. If the twins are seriously going to try Sano out in the OF, they need a solid CF. Bring back the Span man

1. I do really like the idea in some ways. That said, let's say Buxton and Kepler are the starting CF and RF come June or July (which they should be) would you have Span take over for Rosario? Or would a trade be the best idea?

No decent center fielder is going to sign with the Twins with Buxton waiting in the wings, probably up by May or June.

Solid 4th post. It is an idea with merit from the Twins' side, but if I am Span, I want to go someplace I can play all year (or 3 years).....

I'm not seeing the fit here:

 

1)  Span wont' be ready by ST.  That's the biggest issue as he would likely be a temporary stop gap to Buxton/Kepler

 

2)  Span is probably not going to do a 1 year deal. 

 

If these two aren't an issue, then I'd most definitely say bringing him in on  a 1 year make good deal makes a ton of sense.

The Twins could really use an OBP threat at lead-off. There are too many questions about the three young OF sustaining good seasons at the same time (Kepler, Rosario, Buxton). Odds are that at least one of the three either isn't ready or gets injured.

 

A few things would have to happen to make this a real possibility:

 

•Plouffe traded, giving Sano 3B and opening another OF spot
•Span willing to play LF/RF when Buxton is ready.
•Twins FO believes Kepler not ready for full-time gig until 2017
•Span willing to sign 2-year contract

 

Probably not going to happen.

I think he was told to go to a backroom and work on his hitting,

Span could sign for two years. I am higher on Kepler then Buxton at this point. The last few months of the season the twins were playing 4 OFs and doing it successfully. Span is a team guy who has played corner OF spots. This is a way to make this team better. I am one who is sick and tired of the Twins feeling that AAA is not required for these top prospects. While it may work once in a while, it often doesn't. Buxton and Kepler start in AAA and EARN the promotion

On a 1-2 year deal, great. If the prospects are truly ready, they flip Span at the deadline. But why would Span want that? They already dealt him once and it seemed to annoy him.

 

Also, he's an avg at best CF so I'm not sure he'd make up for Sano much anyway. 

 

He's reliable and a good leadoff hitter, but I don't see a fit here.

Span can play center and get on base, he's going to get a bigger and longer contract than everyone expects I predict.

 

The Twins need a right handed OF though.

No no no no no.....  and Shane has signed with Cleveland. Time for the youth movement, and no turning back. And please keep Sano out of the outfield. Span is an average center fielder. He just doesn't get to many balls, won't dive forward but slides on his butt, and is tentative at the wall. Time for the youth.

And that's probably the result of Danny Santana batting .400 until July 31st and then Getting a concussion, the day after we trade Buxton, and never playing again.
