Parker Hageman Site Manager Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 After Wednesday's game against in Cincinnati, the Minnesota Twins sent Kennys Vargas to Chattanooga. After the game, manager Paul Molitor addressed the media on the decision to send Vargas to AA: The Twins did not announce a corresponding roster move and will do so tomorrow but it could open the door for either a Miguel Sano or Oswaldo Arcia promotion. UPDATE: Per Kevin Oklobzija of the Democrat & Chronicle, Aaron Hicks and Oswaldo Arcia are getting on the team bus, heading towards Lehigh Valley. Miguel Sano is NOT in the Chattanooga Lookouts lineup tonight. I think we have our answer.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Maybe I'm missing something, but why AA? He was raking in AAA earlier this earlier. EDIT: Apparently, Sano is not in the lineup for AA Chattanooga. I think he's coming up!!
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Sending him to AA pretty much says what the next move is... but Sano not being in the lineup says a lot too, unless he's going up to AAA and Arcia or something is moving up?

Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 In truth, I expect D, Santana is not far behind. Maybe only as far as Rochester.

The Twins did not announce a corresponding roster move but it could open the door for either a Miguel Sano or Oswaldo Arcia promotion. Since Vargas is going to Chattanooga, it probably means a Miguel Sano, Adam Brett Walker or Max Kepler promotion. If Vargas was going to Rochester, THAT would probably mean a Waldo promotion.
Parker Hageman Site Manager Posted July 1, 2015 Author Posted July 1, 2015 Since Vargas is going to Chattanooga, it probably means a Miguel Sano, Adam Brett Walker or Max Kepler promotion. Either Sano or Kepler -- Walker isn't on the 40-man roster.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 They need defense in CF for the KC series and a DH bat.Well, if Sano is indeed on his way, there's the bat; although not sure if he'll perform immediately. And Hicks up would be CF defense
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 A lot depends on whether Robinson goes to the DL.
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 yeah, I think this is Sano. Not sure why they sent Vargas down to AA, but who knows.
jorgenswest Verified Member Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 AA has already had all star break. He doesn't need a break. He needs to play.
tobi0040 Verified Member Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Arcia has an OPS of .584 in Rochester. Hit a 3 run HR yesterday, but those were his only RBI in the last 10 days where he has a BA of .211. I hope it is not him.
sane Provisional Member Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Either Sano or Kepler -- Walker isn't on the 40-man roster. Only 39 currently on the 40-man roster. I don't think it is Walker, but he could be added.Hicks may be most likely to replace Robinson and Sano to replace Vargas.
darin617 Verified Member Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 I can't believe nobody said what the move is going to be already. I hate to say it Aaron Hicks will just be coming off the DL and activated. Dreams of Sano turn into the same old Hicks who is not worthy of being on the team.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Ervin is back, they are going with all pitchers, that or Kepler or sano.....
SwainZag Community Moderator Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 With Wheeler being released with the Berrios call up and Robinson being hurt today....my guesses: Robinson to the DLHicks to the TwinsArcia to the TwinsSano to AAAKepler to AAA

I really hope it is not him. My guess is all the same except Sano to the big's, Arcia stays.
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 AA? Why AA? Vargas had a 130 wRC+ in AA last year, identical to his mark in high-A the year prior (and with better K and BB rates in AA). And he had a 165 wRC+ in his brief AAA sample this year (albeit with a higher K rate).
Kirby_waved_at_me Verified Member Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Bummer. Vargas is better than AA competition, for sure.
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Just looking at box scores from this past week, Rochester is still giving lots of corner OF / 1B / DH playing time to Wilkin Ramirez, Reynaldo Rodriguez, Eric Farris, Nate Hanson, and Jose Martinez, all age 28 or older, all with OPS's .720 or lower. Seems like there is plenty of room to play Vargas, Sano, Kepler, Hicks, and Arcia there, if so desired.
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Hicks with 3 hits so far today and Arcia 4, including a homer. Odds increasing we see both?
sane Provisional Member Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Often players are sent AA rather than AAA, because the bitter attitudes of some of the ex-MLB players at AAA may be toxic to genuine prospects.
DJL44 Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 My guess Santana to the TwinsHicks to the Twins Aaron Thompson to RochesterSano to Rochester That's it for a while
ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 I want to see new blood, er players. My interest in this team is fragile. When Buxton was called up I watched each of his at bats with keen interest. Yes, most of his ABs were disappointing, but I kept watching. For the same reason, I want to see Sano, and eventually Kepler. They may or not be the Lord Jesus Christ Saviors of the Minnesota Twins, but I can't help but hope for the ultimate ceiling out of each of each top prospects. Usually they don't pan out, but sometimes they do.
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Do we think Escobar is going to be the DH for the mighty important Kansas City series? I suppose it's possible.
