  1. Castro s outfield play has caused 3-4 runs against in the last two games. Defense matters.
  2. This. Max appears to have lost a step and doesn’t play the field with a great deal of intensity anymore.
  3. None of this means a thing as he has worked a handful of innings. It’s more a commentary on the current state of our bullpen.
  4. If the Twins did this even in part to get Lopez closer to his family then I will give the FO a sincere accolade.
  5. Two bullpen arms and a competent right handed hitting outfielder. You could copy and paste this every year for as far back as when they obtained Jake Cave. One would the the genius boys would see a pattern here.
  6. This not the fault of Moran Pagan or Ortega. They are trying their best. This is not Rocco’s fault as he has to use someone other than Duran and Jax. The FO assembled this pen and once again it’s not good I’ve been predicting this since spring training. They have their special plan for building bullpens and it doesn’t work but they are too stubborn to change. So we will use up more of our thin farm system to fix this at the trade deadline.
  7. This. I’m not a huge fan of Falvine but they really made some key acquisitions. Farmer has been extremely valuable as has Taylor and others.
  8. I know this will be an unpopular opinion as he is everyone s darling but Julien is flailing the last couple of days. He’s always had plenty of swing and miss in his game and it’s showing up now. Hopefully temporary.
  9. I also don’t see either with a lot of trade value. The Gallo signing has hurt us in a bunch of different ways including these two drifting in the wind. I would trade Larnach because he has given no indication that he can hit MLB off speed stuff and the league knows it.
  10. Happy Jeffers got to be the hero after taking one under chin. Really impressed with Tim Anderson at bat against Duran. Short compact swing that resulted in a bullet to right center. Wish the Twins had more swings like that.
  11. Sure glad they didn’t lose the game because of that double steal. With Julien s arm I can’t believe they even set the play to throw through. Vasquez should have held the ball as he could see the jump the runner got and Julien need to take two steps in cut the throw and mail the guy at home. On the bright side the Twins are making fewer of these types of plays compared to earlier in the year.
  12. Seattle needs a left handed hitting outfielder Gallo or Kepler or both for Teoscar Hernandez. We maybe would have to throw in a prospect and or eat some salary.
  13. He gets 3 years and $60 million for sure. No the Twins won’t pay this nor should they. QO and they are all good no matter what happens.
  14. I love Juliens bat almost as much as I hate his arm. Let’s see….positives….Jeffers blocked about 238 balls in the dirt. Solano looked great at 3rd. He had two really smooth short hop plays. Negatives…..too many to choose from but I NEVER want to hear another Gray quote about pitching deep into games. I’m worried about Buck because he is not catching up to fastballs that are pretty fat. If he can’t hit those he’s cooked. I have never liked his stance with his hands held so high. Too much motion and distance for the bat to travel.
  15. This is logical except Arreaz has good baseball instincts which allowed him to make an impressive move to 1b. I don’t see that in Julien. He would need an off season imo.
  16. To me it’s as simple as this if Buck hasn’t improved physically and at the plate by the time Polo is back then he goes to the IL and Julien is the every day DH.
  17. I want to give a hat tip to Jeffers. The guy must have really worked hard on his game in the off season. His improvement in blocking balls is significant. Although the one he had get by him looked like the old Jeffers. Thought he was trying to trap a mouse.
  18. I was wondering the same thing. Was plenty nervous when they pulled Jax for Ortega.
  19. This summary accurately captures this game. Had to turn it off after the 6 th. How many called third strikes did we take again? I guess the organizational hitting philosophy is to go up there and guess. I love Buck but he should go on the IL and Julien can be the every day DH. I hate Juliens glove but he is about the only guy that gives you hope in the batters box.
  20. How do you value two months of Ohtani? For that matter how do you project his free agent contract? He is such a unicorn it makes it really hard to assess. Will be fun to watch.
  21. The focus on Popkins is missing the point. The FO dictates the hitting philosophy and they create the roster. You can get rid of Popkins but it isn’t going to matter until the FO changes.
  22. So we should hit the ball where it is pitched with a hard line drive swing. This approach seems vaguely familiar.
  23. So we have a top flight starting rotation and a suspect bullpen. Here is an idea: have our good starting pitchers pitch less and put more pressure on our suspect bullpen. Brilliant! What a dumb premise.
  24. Here is what I would try. Kepler plays CF and no Max I don’t care if you like it. Call up Wallner to play right I would also hold my nose and put Julien at third when Polanco comes back. Lastly Jeffers starts two thirds of the games. Ultimately Correa and Buck have to get hot.
