  1. Please sign a real SS and let Polanco play second. Arreaz can play third and suddenly we have some infield defense
  2. No to Wisler and Harper. If either start the year in the pen the FO has failed
  3. The window will be as open as the quality of their starting rotation. And please no more quotes from Falvine about their grand plans. Let’s start judging this situation by action not talk
  4. If we take that contract in full then Boston is sending us a decent prospect. This is the way I would do it.
  5. I don’t think Sano has as much trade value as people think. He is trending towards being a sub par 1st baseman or DH. There are plenty of Cron types who can provide value at a fraction of the cost
  6. There is no cookie cutter model. It all boils down to a FO making good decisions. Whether that is letting a free agent walk or trading a top prospect or not.
  7. I would grab walker now so we don’t get shutout and then starting working the phones for a real upgrade
  8. Well stated. That’s why the whole “we will trade for someone” is not nearly as easy as it sounds
  9. Buxton or Berrios. Berrios just needs a little better command and he can be a legit ace. I think Buxton is one of those guys that needs a little extra time to get it and when that happens all the skills will come out.
  10. Potentially yes. Will never be a loss because we didn’t give up anything but IMO it can’t be a win until Smeltzer or Raley do something significant
  11. Those trades are wins? With the exception of the Pressly trade which was / is an abomination those trades aren’t losses either but let’s take the Twins colored glasses off
  12. Exactly. The chronological date of the off season doesn’t matter. It’s what good players are left. By that measure the off season is coming to a close
  13. I have no problem if the FO doesn’t wade into free agency. It’s not a good long term plan. But then they have to spend their other currency which is prospects. Trade assets you do have for assets you don’t have. Unfortunately they don’t seem to be comfortable doing that either which is not good
  14. Please no. Sign a pitcher and trade for another. Then sign a good defensive SS and your whole infield is better
  15. Going into the season with two open spots for the rookies. With the exception of Graterol the most likely outcome for the rest of those guys is AAAA shuttle back and forth guys
  16. This is not a plan for a team that is serious about winning in the playoffs. They have a couple more years with Buxton Sano and Berrios so I would hope they do something
  17. Probably a wash. Littel gives us some usefulness short term but nothing to write home about
  18. Busted-I thought of that after I hit reply. I do have concerns about his injury history however.
  19. I’m not disappointed that we didn’t get Bumgarner and won’t be if we don’t get Ryu simply because I don’t think they are that good anymore. We do need another pitcher so the onus is on Falvine to get it done a different way
  20. I don’t think you “get” an ace other than the Yankees buying one. I think you have to add as much pitching talent as possible and hope an ace emerges
  21. This. I hope this is the path they take. Forget about third baseman
  22. I would do that deal in a heartbeat which means it ain’t happening
  23. If you aren’t signing a good starter trade for a good SS and skip this fascination with 3rd base a much lesser important defensive position
