  1. I say yes and I feel even more strongly about that than I did when the trade happened.
  2. The offensive comparison is useful. The defensive one is not. Both are bad defenders but to split hairs with these percentile rankings is giving way too much credit to defensive metrics which are crude at best.
  3. Especially because this year anyway Jeffers is a plus defender and Arreaz is not. And Jeffers plays a premium defensive position.
  4. I would say if Camargo has a mlb career even as a backup it would be considered a good trade.
  5. Now ask me if this FO would be this aggressive. The Chan e is slim and none and slim just left town.
  6. That’s one of the reasons I like it. They can make it happen by only impacting guys like Gallo and Luplow. Kind of a potential big upside with hardly any downside.
  7. I like the aggressive nature of this plan. Might even include SWR out of the pen. I know he hasn’t been great in St Paul but if Sands is the bar to clear it might work. One caveat: if Martin comes up he has to play a lot.
  8. This will not be popular but…..both strike 3 calls against Gallo and Wallner were strikes. Nearly perfect pitches that cannot be taken for 3rd strikes. Fully acknowledge earlier pitches were horrible calls but at some point you have to have a different approach with two strikes.
  9. Interesting. You could win some bar bets with Taylor in third place.
  10. I get that you are a Kepler fan. I like Maxs defense also. But he’s playing a bat first position and the hitting just has not been there. It’s not really a controversial argument.
  11. I actually like Maxs swing and overall athleticism. But let’s be real he has not been good since 2019.
  12. Pagan and Kepler have been good the second half of the season. Was it worth 3 seasons of poor play from Kepler to get this good half season? Was it worth a horrible season last year for Pagan to get a better half season? It’s great if you are eventually right but there is a clear cost for the time it took for these players to finally produce.
  13. Yea the middle infield defense is noticeably better with Polo out there.
  14. This. A couple of weeks ago he was up with 2 outs and runners at the corners. He got a center cut fastball and took a hack so big he half cork screw into the ground. Next pitch takes a breaking ball looking for strike 3. It’s a scene that has played out over and over again this season with a lot of guys.
  15. Royce is really a good athlete. Just the way he moves to the ball is noticeably quicker and smoother than most 3 rd baseman.
  16. Starting pitching is huge in the playoffs so the Twins have a clear strength there. Unfortunately their lineup and bullpen are so volatile that even in a 3 game series there is likely to be at least one game where they score no runs or the bullpen blows it.
  17. For me it’s about health. If the training staff feels he is fully healthy at the end of this season allowing him to train this off season I absolutely pick up his option. Polo has been a really good player - odds are none of the listed replacements will be as good as Polo next year. Lee might be an exception but he might not be up right away. We will really need him if Lewis ends up playing CF. I hope everyone has noticed his fielding the last several games. He has saved several runs compared to if Julien was in the game.
  18. This. One of the many fatal flaws in building a bullpen by throwing a bunch arms at the wall and seeing if any stick.
  19. This is perfect commentary on the state of the bullpen and it’s original construction.
  20. Wallner and Lewis had good at bats. Swinging at strikes laying off the balls and battling. It’s interesting that they seemed to be getting fooled less than the veterans. Hat tip to Polo - he saved them a couple of runs with some slick defense. He and Correa seem to work together nicely.
  21. The premise of this is dubious at best - click bait. If the Twins ever did this the FO should be fired immediately. The kid is one of the Twins most valuable assets. You don’t screw with his development with a stunt like this. He will be up soon enough if handled properly.
  22. Julien has had promising stretches but it’s still pretty early. I think most people on these boards are overrating him as he really is a dh. I doubt he ever hits well enough to be a primary dedicated dh. Same problem with Miranda. If you can’t field you have to be an elite hitter and both are not likely to be elite.
  23. Give Gray the QO and take the pick. I wouldn’t touch Mahle. His shoulder was a problem before the elbow and he was pretty meh here. Maeda I would definitely bring back - he’s pitching great and should age well as he doesn’t rely on velocity. In fact I would choose him over the other two even up.
