  1. The Twins did the same thing to Gausman earlier in the year. He’s a two pitch pitcher and they sit on one of the two and spit on the other. If A Rod did his homework he would see that this played out just like before instead of spouting off about stuff he has no idea is true.
  2. At this point I would like to give a hat tip to the FO. I am not their biggest fan but tonight three guys won the game. Lopez and Taylor both acquired by trade in the off season. Royce drafted 1-1 when he wasn’t the clear number one. If I’m going to rip em for various things then I need to credit them for the good stuff.
  3. Except the runner was barely half way to second. He’s a nervous fielder and it will probably really show in the playoffs where the pressure is off the charts. At least he got one which gave Pablo a chance but it’s one of the small plays that can cost you games.
  4. Go ahead and re- read my post and tell me where I said I would bench him. Basically he and Polo were not good in the field but everyone was bitching about Polo. If Royce can’t go I definitely would put Farmer at third Polo at second and DH Julien.
  5. And thanks to Pablo Royce and MAT. The great start by Pablo is the blueprint for this team in the playoffs.
  6. Polanco had a rough game but nobody is talking about Juliens fielding. Had a chance to get two and defaults to first. At a minimum he needs to get the lead runner. And then makes a mess of a pretty routine liner. I get these are the best bats but Polo at third and Julien at second is going to be shaky.
  7. I hate that Julien takes marginal pitches with runners on base but that wasn’t marginal. That was complete horsebleep by the ump.
  8. Sorry farmerguy. Didn’t mean to include your quote in my post
  9. I would say those odds are pretty accurate. That’s why we need Pablo and Sonny to be really good. The lineup and bullpen have improved dramatically in the second half but I still feel like there will be one game where the Twins get 3 hits and k 14 times or we roll out 4 relievers and one of them implodes.
  10. Pressly trade is looking pretty bad right now. Don’t know if Alcala will make it to spring on the 40 man either.
  11. Have you ever considered the guy is doing everything he can to get on the field but his knee is shot? You and others insinuate that he is some sort of slacker because he isn’t on the field which isn’t the case. I get it - he gets injured a frustrating amount but to assign a moral failing to this is not right.
  12. I have trust issues because my Dad told me that when the Good Humor truck was playing music it meant they were out of ice cream.
  13. Good thing the Tigers didn’t need him.
  14. Some really good at bats that inning. Not swinging at balls and doing damage on strikes.
  15. I think Julien knows the strike zone better than the umps. Still frustrating to see so many called third strikes.
  16. Good grief those Colorado uniforms are hideous.
  17. I’m not as enthusiastic as most here about this list. A bunch of college guys between 22-24 having “good” seasons at A ball or even AA isn’t really spectacular. They should be performing well at those levels. We will see as they start to move up.
  18. I think people are getting ahead of themselves worrying about Buxton. If he makes the roster it will be as a DH against lefties and / or a pinch hitter. And if Lewis can’t play in the field then he is the dh and Buck sits the first round. I just gotta say the negativity towards Buck is a little much. The guy is injury prone not an axe murderer. By all accounts he puts himself through a lot just to try and take the field and people are acting like he’s sitting on the beach somewhere.
  19. Agreed. I just think it’s unexpected. Phoenix is number two.
  20. Ryan did not look that good. When you have two other choices for that 3rd spot it makes for a really tough decision as there is no longer any margin for error. I just hope the pitching plan is based on what is happening now not from an analytics plan derived over really large samples.
  21. Little known fact. Atlanta has the third highest elevation of any mlb city.
  22. At this point I would have Stewart as a primary set up go over Jax. Also Floro has been dfad which doesn’t lend credibility to the article.
  23. That turn by Polo was a thing of beauty. There is so much that goes into a good double play combo. Little things like letting the ball come to you with both hands together (the ball travels faster than your hands). Julien frequently reaches his glove out to full extension to grab the ball and then has to bring them together which is way slower.
  24. I believe framing is a thing (back in the old days it was called soft hands or being a good receiver). What I don’t believe is that it is quantifiable. It’s probably more important than ever with some of the absolute horse crap home plate umpiring we see now. I’ll take the extra oomph in Jeffers bat and only start Vasquez to give him a break.
  25. I think Maeda is better than Ryan but it is very close. The combo of Ryan starting and Maeda coming out of the pen is probably a little better than Maeda starting and Ryan coming out of the pen which he has never done. I guess we will find out. If the Twins win the series and Maeda isn’t used he could still start the first game of the second round.
