  1. Balozovic only gave up 3 earned runs …….in 3 .2 innings. That would be pretty much an era of 9. Come on let’s get a little less homer in our reports.
  2. To answer the question: no. There is more to catching than hitting.
  3. I’ll take it a step further. Anybody asking for this doesn’t know baseball. The article was a waste of digital ink.
  4. I said it at the end is spring training. We will be cursing this bullpen by the all star break. Change that to the fishing opener. Derek Rodriguez? I hate the way this FO constructs bullpens.
  5. The best by a country mile is Cruz for Joe Ryan. I think the trade for Sonny Gray is working out well as is Escobar for Duran. The rest aren’t great but the only horrible one for me is Presly for Alcala and Celestino. The Berrios trade doesn’t look good from a prospect return standpoint but not giving him $120 million is the biggest win. I’m glad I saw this list. My impression was their trade record was much worse.
  6. No way I extend him. He hasn’t been healthy in a while and not particularly effective for a while. Chalk it up to a trade that didn’t work out and move on. I’m not a fan of our FO but offer no criticism on this deal. They tried to push a contending team over the top which is the right move every time.
  7. Yea I noticed that right away. I’m generally a Rocco fan but man his teams make a lot of mental mistakes. Another subtle play was when Gallo ends up catching the ball in left center. Because he was running towards center the runner tagged at second and gained third. The center fielder Gordon should have caught that ball and there would have no chance for the guy to advance.
  8. I have no idea if the guy is a good coach or not. I don’t think he is the problem. This FO assembled a one dimensional lineup that was always going to be feast or famine regardless of coaching. Plodding players with way too much swing and miss. Here is a fun little thought: examine the traditional offensive positions which are first and third base along with left and right field. Anybody still confused why we can’t score any runs?
  9. I love Nick Gordon. Not exactly sure why other than I love guys that overcome adversity. However when he came to bat with the bases loaded and Quantrill hadn’t thrown a ball near the plate for 15 minutes I was yelling at the TV to not do him any favors. Nick gets a 2-0 count and then swings at a ball at least 6” outside. Couldn’t believe it.
  10. Play the best players. The Show isn’t where you learn how to play this game although watching the Twins young players would suggest otherwise. I want to win games so that means Farmer is the starting 3rd baseman until further notice. Miranda can go to St Paul and prove that he should be given another chance or not. People are so worried about prospects that they literally want to adopt strategies that will lose more games to nurture some prospect. Let the prospects play well enough to push the starter out until then they are just suspects.
  11. Max has a nice swing so I thought he would figure it out as a hitter. As far as getting rid of him we can do so when one of our vaunted prospects pushes him aside. Which I don’t think is going to happen. I don’t think Larnach or Wallner will ever be everyday big leaguers so Max will be with us until E Rod comes up.
  12. Anybody else notice Sonny Gray evading the pitch clock? He would turn around so Jeffers couldn’t get him the ball and start the timer. Ironically it was when he was slowing down and getting the violations that his control left him. The league is going to have to close up some loopholes.
  13. Yea he’s pretty bad at first too. He really lacks instincts in the field and isn’t quick. I do think he will be a good hitter so maybe dh and backup at first and third. Right now I would put Farmer at third and send Miranda down for a bit.
  14. The split change has been a nice add. I’ve seen several good ones to both right and left handed hitters.
  15. Agree with the comments on Solano. Unfortunately Miranda is worse in the field. He will be a dh soon so he better start hitting.
  16. I meant Stewart. Had Brock Nelson on my mind instead of Brock Stewart.
  17. He is an acceptable back up catcher. That’s it. He can’t throw and his blocking ability is nil. The other night Nelson threw a low and away fastball and Jeffers didn’t even get leather on it. The fact that when he does get on base he is a horrible base runner doesn’t help.
  18. None of us knows what happens privately. What we do know is this team plays sloppy baseball and it has been that way for a couple of seasons. Whatever Rocco does or doesn’t do ain’t working. And this coming from a guy that generally likes Rocco.
  19. Another sloppy game for my favorite team. I HATE that players don’t run hard out of the box. Polanco goes into a home run trot on a ball that hits the wall? Just effing run and show boat when the play is over.
  20. I believe he will hit. I don’t believe he will ever be anything but a DH on a good club. He is not good in the field.
  21. Who on this team would you want to steal bases? Buxton and Taylor. That’s it. The other guys will get thrown out far too often. I would be happy if they just ran the bases intelligently and avoided costly mistakes. Hi Max Kepler.
  22. Sloppy game by the Twins. Reminded me of last year. People kind of assume Alcala is going to be a good reliever but he really has been good for about two months. He’s another Falvey special: guys that have stuff but no control or command and then we are shocked when they groove one middle middle and it gets crushed. See Moran Megill Pagan Sands etc.
  23. Other than Winder I don’t want to see any of these guys. You can add Sands Pagan and Moran to that list as well. This bullpen is a ticking time bomb.
  24. Exciting game. Couple of observations. The Twins are playing much cleaner baseball to start the season with no real bonehead plays in the field or on the bases. Miranda has had a couple bobbles but overall pretty good. Good to hear Polanco is playing again they need him up here soon. is it just me or have we had some really poor home plate umpires this season? In this game he missed a bunch of calls and wasn’t even consistent. In one of the broadcasts they mentioned that there are a large number of new umps this year.
