  1. Thanks for the article Tom I really enjoyed it. Really drives home the point that trades like this can really be impactful good or bad.
  2. Didn’t Tampa do this several years ago? They had two good starters they used conventionally and used this method for the other three. Kind of creative as they knew they weren’t signing free agents. I don’t know how I like it but the risk mitigation aspect makes a lot of sense. If our top end free agent starter blows his arm out a team like the Twins is screwed. The caveat would be that you would have to figure out a way to make sure your better pitchers are getting the most innings.
  3. You did not make anything personal with the author or another poster. You have the right to express a strong opinion if you so choose. You are not obligated to conform to other posters sensibilities as long as you abide by the rules of the forum, which you did.
  4. Again I never said I’m writing anybody off. I am expressing skepticism (realism) about the prospect of two guys that have struggled being breakout candidates. Hardly over the top.
  5. Right. And just because you apparently view it differently doesn’t mean I’m wrong.
  6. I said he is nearing a bust. Of course he deserves more chances. But to say he is getting ready to breakout??????
  7. You’re kidding right? Steer maybe. Strotman was not good after acquisition and Sabato is nearing bust status.
  8. If you want quality you have to give something valuable up. Would you rather have a strong catching situation or a stronger rotation? I’ll take the pitching every time.
  9. Wow. Just wow. I’m starting to think that over all these years of people being mad at Terry Ryan and now Falvine we missed the real culprit-ownership. Jim Pohlad should just not do any public speaking.
  10. Yes the injuries, we all get it. I’ve been following the Twins since the late 60s and I will say that when he is healthy he is the best overall player in the history of the franchise. You don’t pay him and many fans like me will consider it the last straw. Wouldn’t it be ironic if he has good health going forward.
  11. Yikes. That rotation would equate to a 90 loss season.
  12. It will be a long season if we count on any of the pitchers listed as primary contributors.
  13. I think I will wait until the league sees him for a while before I make any conclusions.
  14. Any list without Jake Cave is incomplete. It’s amazing the number of players that could have been on the list.
  15. I’m other words if everything breaks near perfectly we will have a slightly above average rotation. I think I would bet the under.
  16. No. They literally need 15 new pitchers for next year. While they have some numbers in the high minors they are mostly back of the rotation types. Not to mention the fact that a certain number just won’t make it. the Maeda news was the last nail. We are now officially looking at 2023 or 24.
  17. The article should have been about Zach Littell.
  18. I think he needs some starts up here to see if his fastball heavy mix will work in the bigs. If it doesn’t then we have a problem because he doesn’t have much else.
  19. Well we need about 20 mlb competent pitchers for next year. Plenty of room for any of them if they show the ability.
  20. I don’t how others feel but I am getting concerned about Balazovic. He doesn’t seem to be gaining traction at AA and I believe he is 24 or 25. He’s been a prospect that has gotten a lot of attention and one that a lot were counting on to solve the pitching problem. Hopefully he doesn’t end up being the cautionary tale about prospect attrition.
  21. How do you buy low on the 13th ranked prospect in all of baseball?
  22. Excited about the bat to ball skills-I think this is what our lineup needs to offset all the swing for the fences guys. As far as position I sure hope the Twins find a spot of importance to excel. SS or CF preferably. Being mediocre at a bunch of positions is not what you should get for Berrios. As far as all the comps to other players I think all that stuff is overblown. All prospects are suspects until they aren’t.
  23. I like that he generally throws strikes. If he ends up being an effective #5 starter it would be a great bonus. He looked good against the Cards but we won’t know anything until the league sees him more.
