    Would be fun to watch him pitch but he has a long way to go.

    I have no idea. All I know is that whenever I watch him he makes all the plays he should along with some he shouldn’t. Having to start on the dirt probably restricts his range. I would pay money just to watch the man throw. His arm strength is obvious but he is also incredibly accurate. That’s a combination not often seen.

    I feel they are better defensively this year. Jeffers has improved behind the plate and Miranda and Celestino aren’t playing which helps a bunch. About the only poor fielder they are rolling out there is Julien and that is only because Polanco is hurt.

    Tough call. When healthy he is far better than any other potential replacement. I also think it’s not accurate to say we have Lee Julien and Martin to take his place. Julien is a dh Martin completely unproven and Lee still needs development.

    This. There is no point in extending him unless he signs for virtually nothing. The original problems were with shoulder which is even more ominous than elbow problems. Move on-trade didn’t work-it happens.

    I’ve been skeptical of defensive stats since Josh Willingham had better defensive numbers than Torii Hunter. I guess I’m ant-intellectual. Some above made the best observation: the Twins haven’t developed any outfielders good enough to take his place during his tenure. That’s not good.

    What is the scouting report on Camargos defense? Do we suddenly have a legit catching prospect?

    Just make the plays in the field and we win even with Pagan pitching. Julien is a DH. We seem to have several players that profile similarly.

    Gallo goes on a rehab assignment but Kepler does not. Interesting.

    So many players playing well at AAA? Plethora of live arms in St Paul? I think you need to slow the roll a little. Wallner has earned a shot. Headrick deserves another look. Julien maybe should get a couple DH at bats. That’s it. The good news is Lewis and Kiriloff are already here so the transition to a younger different lineup has already begun.

    I see lots of let the young guys play comments on these boards. As Gleeman would say what are we even talking about here? Everyone can agree that Wallner should be up. Then who are these marvelous young players people are clamoring for? Ed Julien can’t carry Polanco jock. Miranda is scuffling. Martin is rehabbing and hasn’t proven anything. Brooks Lee? 50 decent games at AA and we are calling him up? The cupboard is pretty empty on the farm. Besides their two best young hitters are Kiriloff and Lewis and both are here.

    Especially now that the IL is 10 days. Probably should have put both Buck and CC on the IL right away. Give them a chance to recuperate.

    One trade isn’t fixing this lineup. The guys that are supposed to hit need to hit or they are done. I would get Wallner up here right away. Don’t know if he is the answer but it’s time to find out.

    That list, other than Headrick is depressing. If any of those guys pitch for the Twins something will have gone very wrong.

    This. He’s a great athlete that could be a great fielder at several different positions given a chance. That assumes health and he hits.

    The idea was sound they just picked the wrong trade targets. If the FO had any ability to draft and develop pitching they wouldn’t have had to do those deals. That’s where the real problem lies.

    You are missing my point. It’s not the travel it’s that they don’t get an extended chance to adapt to pitching in the big leagues. How many players hit the ground running when first called up? Not many. It takes some time to learn how your stuff can get big league hitters out. Or not.

    What worries me is that Buck had surgery last fall and rehabbed all winter and spring and it looks like the knee is a problem again just dhing. That does not bode well for the future. On a related note I really don’t know if I believe not playing in the field makes that much difference. What if Buck played in the field but sat every 4th game? That’s still 120 games and we get to see the best CF in baseball.

    If Buck cannot regularly play CF in the future then Lewis should move there. Get your best athletes at the premium defensive positions.

    I have wondered if the “shuttle” is part of the problem. These never get a chance to settle in and have an extended run. In essence we never give them enough time to even tell if they could make it.

    Hat tip to Polanco. Everyone wants to move on from him even though he is one of their best players when healthy.

    Unfortunately lots of choices. FO has to be on the list for this bullpen and one dimensional lineup.

    His defense isn’t deficient it’s borderline horrible. No arm no hands and no range. He will hit but probably not enough to be a full time dh.

    As I’ve posted before I love the way Barland attacks the zone. I hope several other Twins pitchers are taking notes. Castro is really carving out a spot on this club. What an arm that kid has. Speaking of arms one who doesn’t have one is Julien. He has been a nice story but he is a dh and I doubt he produces enough with the bat to be a dh. Trade bait.
