    I think the title should be It’s ok to be hopeful about the Twins. There is nothing impressive about this lineup or bullpen.

    I’m sure Max will light the fire. Sorry Wallner all those hits and power aren’t needed anymore.

    Combination of bad luck and walking guys. Mix the two and it can be ugly. The other thing is that he hasn’t been in the league that long. There may have been some adjustments made by the other teams.

    I really like Varland. He really attacks the hitters and fills up the zone. Because of that he is going to get jumped on sometimes like last night but give me that over the nibblers. I think the old concept of protect the plate with two outs is still valid especially with some of these umps.

    Rocco is not the problem nor the solution. I was a CEO for 30 years and always told my Board of Directors that when I hire the right people I’m a management genius. When I don’t I’m not nearly as smart. This is about the FO folks. That is where the focus and attention should be directed.

    I wish Helman wasn’t hurt. With the numbers he has put up it would be worth a look.

    I have an easy solution. When Kepler comes back Rocco sits him down and says Max you are now a CF. If you don’t like it you can sit next to me on the bench.

    We didn’t need to get into the high end market. We just needed to raise the floor and their were options to do that. Now we are losing games and will give up more prospect at the deadline because our FO is so stubborn about how they build a bullpen.

    I don’t think either will be in contention for the award but am excited that we have two top level starters. I’m not the biggest fan of our FO but those were two really good trades.

    He fits this FO reliever profile perfectly. He throws hard and has no idea where the hell it’s going.

    He pounds the zone which I really like. Of course that means he is going to get ambushed from time to time but he makes guys swing the bat.

    Balozovic only gave up 3 earned runs …….in 3 .2 innings. That would be pretty much an era of 9. Come on let’s get a little less homer in our reports.

    I said it at the end is spring training. We will be cursing this bullpen by the all star break. Change that to the fishing opener. Derek Rodriguez? I hate the way this FO constructs bullpens.

    No way I extend him. He hasn’t been healthy in a while and not particularly effective for a while. Chalk it up to a trade that didn’t work out and move on. I’m not a fan of our FO but offer no criticism on this deal. They tried to push a contending team over the top which is the right move every time.

    Yea I noticed that right away. I’m generally a Rocco fan but man his teams make a lot of mental mistakes. Another subtle play was when Gallo ends up catching the ball in left center. Because he was running towards center the runner tagged at second and gained third. The center fielder Gordon should have caught that ball and there would have no chance for the guy to advance.

    I have no idea if the guy is a good coach or not. I don’t think he is the problem. This FO assembled a one dimensional lineup that was always going to be feast or famine regardless of coaching. Plodding players with way too much swing and miss. Here is a fun little thought: examine the traditional offensive positions which are first and third base along with left and right field. Anybody still confused why we can’t score any runs?

    I love Nick Gordon. Not exactly sure why other than I love guys that overcome adversity. However when he came to bat with the bases loaded and Quantrill hadn’t thrown a ball near the plate for 15 minutes I was yelling at the TV to not do him any favors. Nick gets a 2-0 count and then swings at a ball at least 6” outside. Couldn’t believe it.

    Play the best players. The Show isn’t where you learn how to play this game although watching the Twins young players would suggest otherwise. I want to win games so that means Farmer is the starting 3rd baseman until further notice. Miranda can go to St Paul and prove that he should be given another chance or not. People are so worried about prospects that they literally want to adopt strategies that will lose more games to nurture some prospect. Let the prospects play well enough to push the starter out until then they are just suspects.

    Max has a nice swing so I thought he would figure it out as a hitter. As far as getting rid of him we can do so when one of our vaunted prospects pushes him aside. Which I don’t think is going to happen. I don’t think Larnach or Wallner will ever be everyday big leaguers so Max will be with us until E Rod comes up.
