    Anybody else notice Sonny Gray evading the pitch clock? He would turn around so Jeffers couldn’t get him the ball and start the timer. Ironically it was when he was slowing down and getting the violations that his control left him. The league is going to have to close up some loopholes.

    Yea he’s pretty bad at first too. He really lacks instincts in the field and isn’t quick. I do think he will be a good hitter so maybe dh and backup at first and third. Right now I would put Farmer at third and send Miranda down for a bit.

    The split change has been a nice add. I’ve seen several good ones to both right and left handed hitters.

    Agree with the comments on Solano. Unfortunately Miranda is worse in the field. He will be a dh soon so he better start hitting.

    I meant Stewart. Had Brock Nelson on my mind instead of Brock Stewart.

    He is an acceptable back up catcher. That’s it. He can’t throw and his blocking ability is nil. The other night Nelson threw a low and away fastball and Jeffers didn’t even get leather on it. The fact that when he does get on base he is a horrible base runner doesn’t help.

    None of us knows what happens privately. What we do know is this team plays sloppy baseball and it has been that way for a couple of seasons. Whatever Rocco does or doesn’t do ain’t working. And this coming from a guy that generally likes Rocco.

    Another sloppy game for my favorite team. I HATE that players don’t run hard out of the box. Polanco goes into a home run trot on a ball that hits the wall? Just effing run and show boat when the play is over.

    I believe he will hit. I don’t believe he will ever be anything but a DH on a good club. He is not good in the field.

    Who on this team would you want to steal bases? Buxton and Taylor. That’s it. The other guys will get thrown out far too often. I would be happy if they just ran the bases intelligently and avoided costly mistakes. Hi Max Kepler.

    Sloppy game by the Twins. Reminded me of last year. People kind of assume Alcala is going to be a good reliever but he really has been good for about two months. He’s another Falvey special: guys that have stuff but no control or command and then we are shocked when they groove one middle middle and it gets crushed. See Moran Megill Pagan Sands etc.

    Other than Winder I don’t want to see any of these guys. You can add Sands Pagan and Moran to that list as well. This bullpen is a ticking time bomb.

    Exciting game. Couple of observations. The Twins are playing much cleaner baseball to start the season with no real bonehead plays in the field or on the bases. Miranda has had a couple bobbles but overall pretty good. Good to hear Polanco is playing again they need him up here soon. is it just me or have we had some really poor home plate umpires this season? In this game he missed a bunch of calls and wasn’t even consistent. In one of the broadcasts they mentioned that there are a large number of new umps this year.

    Didn’t like the loss but loved watching Alcantra pitch. He just attacks. No big strikeout numbers because he is retiring guys on three pitches. This is how you go deep in games.

    I’m not that excited about Winder. Shoulder problems are a bugger and his fastball gets creamed. Pretty far fetched to think he would ever be a reliable starter so see if work the Jax magic with him.

    I think the start of the season is representative of what Gallo brings to the table. Good defense at multiple positions with games where he doesn’t do a thing at the plate followed up by a game where he is a real difference maker at the plate. Just gonna have to get used to lots of swings and misses.

    Couple of positive signs: Buck is hitting the ball hard without being in severe pull mode. Larnach also looks good at the plate. Not chasing and then putting good swings on the ball when they come to him. One subtle thing is that Jax had to get warm in a hurry when Pagan started doing his thing. Might not be available tomorrow.

    I’m fine with the electronic strike zone but stay away from any challenge system. It’s just one more thing to slow the game down.

    I disagree so strongly I would like to use swear words. Playoff games are the worst for time wasted. Watch the 1991 World Series. The game moved rapidly and nobody died and it was incredibly dramatic. Get over it.

    Couple of thoughts: Buxton essentially won the game but was not listed in the top 3 for wpa. Second the biggest reason Twins pitchers don’t get to pitch deeper into games is because they are inefficient. If you need 85 pitches to get thru 5 then the problem ain’t the manager.

    One more thing I’m looking forward to. Watching Correa backhand a ball in the hole, turning a firing a seed to first. Love watching that guy throw.

    I like the rotation but feel the bullpen needs at least one more legit arm. Excited that we should have a better defensive club. I can see the lineup being solid but can also see it struggling to score runs so we will see. I really hope they can play some clean baseball this year. There is no reason with a pretty experienced to see constant bonehead plays like last year. Bottom line: Twins will win 84 games and we will be lamenting that, once again, the bullpen wasn’t good enough. Regarding the new uniforms etc I couldn’t care less. Much rather see clean winning baseball.

    I would say Spencer Steer. No expectations but turns out to be a good trade chip.
