    I see the development side as the FO strength. They have hired a number of talented people proven by how many were poached by other orgs. Only time will tell on the drafting side.

    What a pleasure to watch Pineda pound the strike zone. I like Rocco but haven’t figured him out. He has been ultra careful with his starters but let’s Pineda throw a hundred pitches in his second live start. I know there is a reason but not obvious to me.

    I give Cleveland credit for one thing: they are not afraid.

    I believe one aspect of this is being missed. I’ve heard many players simply say that playing in light of what is happening would send a message that things are ok and they obviously are not.

    These bullpen games have to stop. Trashes our pen for multiple games. We had to trot out two unproven rookies against our division rival.

    I think the one knee down stance is a major factor. It helps with framing but makes blocking balls and throwing more difficult.

    This. And I don’t like the exercise where we take away bad luck as I’m sure there have been some ropes hit right at guys. His mechanics have always been kind of funky and I think causes him to be inconsistent

    Don’t think this on the mark. He gives up few homers so I don’t see anybody golfing his sinkers. I do agree that Maeda could be a good example for him

    We don’t have one. The two best pitchers we have also have the best command and control. Coincidence? I think not.

    Ummm have you noticed that he has been our best pitcher going on a year now? Maybe focus on the results and not worry so much about how it happens.

    “Dobnak was solid”. If Berrios put up these numbers we would be claiming he is an elite ace. It’s funny how you have to achieve results in a way that jives with current analytics to be considered something other than a fluke. As for the catching Avila should be playing more. He’s better defensively and is getting on base which works well for the bombas.

    This. He isn’t an analytics dream. All he does is get guys out. Will it continue I don’t know but until then maybe some of the Twins other starters should take notice especially Berrios.

    Buxton Cruz Maeda and Dobnak can share it. I actually more confidence in in Buxton and Dobnak to sustain this which is surprising

    Never thought we would have had two bullpen games at this point Clevinger and Plesac must be real D bags

    Berrios has never had good command so I don’t see throwing harder as the problem. However hard he throws he has to hit his targets better that is when he will be an ace. The stuff is there.

    I’m with you Doc. Dobnak was rolling and likely would have given them another inning with only a dozen more pitches

    Yes it is. He has the stuff and sufficient velocity. He lacks the ability to consistently locate. He ends up with 25 pitch innings way too often

    Command of his pitches is a far bigger problem than velocity. The focus on velocity in modern analytics is overblown. Berrios is the perfect example

    I’m impressed with his defense this year. He’s made several good plays at several different positions

    I think his lack of command and ability to change speeds are bigger reasons for his struggles.

    If Alcala gains some control he could be as good as Pressly. That may be a big if.
