BREAKING: First Looks and Insights on Twins' Field of Dreams Game Jerseys

Minnesota’s professional sports teams are having a renaissance when it comes to throwback uniforms. In 2023, the Vikings finally brought back the home uniforms that were based on their original 1960s/1970s home uniform. That same fall, the Timberwolves brought back the original home uniforms from the franchise’s first six seasons and followed it up this past season by bringing back their iconic black “trees” uniforms that were famously worn during the Kevin Garnett era. The Wild wore the original white jerseys from their inaugural season this past year to commemorate their 25th season in the National Hockey League. Even Minnesota United tried a faux throwback that paid homage to the Minnesota Kicks last season, despite the fact the club had only been in Major League Soccer since 2017 (the Kicks were an NASL team from 1976-1981, for those wondering).

Now, in 2026, the Minnesota Twins are joining the Minnesota throwback party as they gear up for the Field of Dreams game on August 13th against the Philadelphia Phillies. For one of Major League Baseball’s signature events of the season, the Twins will be wearing their original home uniforms from the 1960s and early 1970s, and then later featured in the first nine seasons of Target Field as an alternate uniform. The last time the Twins wore these uniforms was in the iconic final game of Joe Mauer’s Hall of Fame career.

It was reasonable to assume this was the route the Twins would go for this event after the two teams for the game were announced last November, with the logos for each team teasing the era from which they will be drawing their uniform inspiration.

The Twins’ uniform is white, with blue pinstripes going down both the jersey and pants, a departure from the previously cream-colored alternates. Running across the chest is the original cursive script ‘Twins’ logo, which is navy blue and outlined in red. On the back of the uniform, you find the same color scheme for the number—and no name plate, as the Twins did not introduce those until they went to the baby blue uniforms in the mid-1970s.

The only modern part of the uniform here is (sigh) the Nike swoosh on the upper left chest, which is standard for every MLB uniform as part of the existing deal between the league and Nike. The Yankees and White Sox also had this on their uniforms back in 2021, for the inaugural Field of Dreams Game. On the sleeve is the Minnie and Paul logo, which has had very few touchups over the 67 years the franchise has existed in the Twin Cities.

The cap itself for the Field of Dreams game will be navy blue and feature the interlocking ‘TC’ logo, which also remained untouched throughout the franchise’s history until it underwent a modern tuning for the team’s uniform rebrand starting in the 2023 season.

Socks will be navy, too, and you will probably see several players adopt the high socks to complement the throwbacks, as that was the style of the era. You might even be lucky enough to get a player in some stirrups.

The Twins had some options to choose from their history for this game, but going with the original home uniform was the best choice, or at least the best for those of us who love the aesthetics of these uniforms.

Is this heaven? No, it’s the Twins’ original home throwbacks!

This is my absolute favorite Twins uniform.  It was the uniform of my youth with Oliva, Killebrew, Tovar, Carew and Allison.  I wish they would use it more often.  I loved that the Mauer, Morneau, Santana and Nathan era used something very similar to this.

I have been a Senators/Twins fan since 1953 when they were the old Washington Senators., because my grandparents lived in Washington, DC. and because we lived near  Charlotte , NC, which was a Senators/Twins minor league affiliate.  My family subscribed to the Charlotte Observer. My first major league game was in 1953 in old Griffith Stadium with my brother and our grandfather, while we were visiting our grandparents in D.C.  ( The Senators lost to the Tigers (of course they did), setting the stage for my lifetime of woes, due to my strong allegiance to the Senators and Twins.) My younger brother ( who Mother liked best, became a pediatrician, while I was the black sheep of the family and I became a trial lawyer) has been a Phillies fan since 1954, when he decided that he liked Thornton Kipper's Phillies hat on his 1954 Topps' baseball card. It would be interesting for us to attend this year's "Field of Dreams" game, due to our 74-73 years of loyalty to the two opponents of this year's game. I seriously doubt that there are two family members who have pulled for these two opponents continuously for this long period of time. We belong in the Guinness Book of Records or more importantly,  we merit an in- person interview with Audra Martin. How about it Audra? Even parts of the City Connect unis have grown on me, but this is the right decision. The next right decision is to include Tony Oliva in the Opening Pitch ceremony. Hopefully Carew and Kaat as well, but it should start with Tony O.

Put me down as a fan of this original and not so much of the various alternates that have become so popular recently. When you have a classic—Yankees, Dodgers, Giants, Red Sox, Cardinals, Braves—you showcase it.

Bring back the old “fat guys shaking hands across the river”, before they were given the dumb names.   The name Minnie is the worst, especially when opposing teams refer to Minnesota as “Minnie” (“Next we are headed to play a series in Minnie”).    Nobody up here uses that term!!!   Some in this State have given in to using “Soda” as the slang term for soft drink (it’s supposed to be called POP up here - for you transplants).   DITCH MINNIE!!

I've heard "Minnie" used plenty of times by Minnesotans. In fact, I've mostly heard it used by Minnesotans when speaking to other Minnesotans. When I'm out of town taking with other Minnesotans, I've often been asked "when do you head back to Minnie?" or "are you guys gonna be in Minnie this weekend?" etc.

When I leave Carolina for Bemidji on Thursday where my Olson family have been since they homesteaded there after coming over from Oslo, they will talk of going down to "The Cities" for a Twins or Vikes game. That's the term used there 95% of the time if not more. And of course that's why they're called The Twins.

And I love the classic uniforms which matches my Killebrew jersey! BTW, if you get a chance to see a game in Nationals park you'll see Killebrew's name up in the Ring of Honor right beside Walter Johnson's. I was confused walking in when so many people commented on my awesome jersey but then I saw why. Go Twins! Take in a game in The Cities!

Then they have adopted the term from non-Minnesotans.  It’s polluting our discourse like “soda” did.   “Minnie” is not a thing here. Keep Minnesota Minnie-less.    Relegate this term to ignominy (or Ig-No-Minnie) 
it must be the All-Star break if this is what I’m thinking about.

Kaat was on the 1961 team. Oliva showed up in 1962. Carew didn’t show up until 1967.

I'm glad that Killebrew and Johnson are honored anywhere. But the Washington Nationals have no right to claim them as former players for that franchise.  They certainly are part of Washington's baseball history, but then, so is Mickey Mantle, who hit what was at that time claimed to be the longest homerun ever hit. Unfortunately, he played for some team in New Jersey or the  northeast somewhere, and  tormented the Washington team. I drew mustaches on all of Mantle's  baseball card,s thereby reducing the value tremendously. Who knew those penny cards would someday be worth thousands of dollars?

Whether right or not, it seems the Face of the Franchise legacy pecking order has been Killebrew, followed by Oliva and then Carew. After that it feels like personal preference from among Kaat, Puckett, Hrbek, Blyleven, Mauer...

Whether fair or not, I wonder if Kaat gets penalized in FoF consideration for not having played his entire career with the Twins (witness his number not getting retired until he made the HOF) and that his two best seasons (measured by bWAR) were with Chicago. Carew played with the Angels, of course, but the '73-'77 stint dwarfs anything he did in California.

No. 6 is now at the point where his total association with the Twins is nearly long enough to be eligible for Medicare. I'd be glad for any of the living retired uniform people to be included, but for me, it starts with Tony O.

The Twins played their best in pinstripes, we have not had much success with nonpinstripes. Bring back the winning tradition, bring back the traditional pinstripes

Schmidt was certainly the first guy that came to mind when I was thinking of having someone from each team. 

Given that Kaat is known to be ambidextrous, having shot his age both when playing golf right-handed and left-handed, and that he played for both teams, maybe he could throw out a ball for each team simultaneously! 😀

i loved Mantle so much  i had his card  pinned  to my Bicycle spokes  10  of them , ,  can only chuckle knowing what we do now !!!!!!!

Couldn’t agree more. I loved the gray wool road jerseys from the 60s as well. Found an original Killebrew online and it was $400.

Steve Carlton also had a brief cup of coffee with the Twins.  Having Schmidt AND Carlton for the Phillies would be great.  Tony-O, Kaat and Carew would be outstanding for the Twins.

We can only wish to have the same genetics as Kaat and Oliva, except for Tony-O’s knees.  You can add Twins 1970 Cy Young winner Jim Perry (over 90) to that list.

Harmon’s legacy of mispronouncing a name as a TV analyst lives on.   He would put the R in Ron WaRshington.  Now, Dan Gladden adds the N to Victor CaraNtini.
