Keaschall had a great run in California, finishing just one win shy of making the state tournament his senior year. Varland, however, was a two-time MSHSL State Tournament wrestler, a two-time team MVP, and a four-time team captain.

This isn't going to happen. The Twins won't pay the price necessary, either in money or prospects, to bring back that kind of a pitcher. I don't think I would want them to do that either. This is not a WS team or a deep, competitive AL team. This team is likely a .500 team that, in the weak AL, could make the playoffs. I would settle for a couple of solid relievers that would make the likes of Laweryson, Orze, and Adams not needed on the team anymore. Upgrading your floor would do more wonders than a shut-down closer. I've been in the camp that we need to buy and sell this trade deadline. We have the likes of Larnach and Bell which could be flipped with a prospect for a solid reliever or bring back prospects that could be spun for pitching help later, similar to AJ Preller in San Diego. Jeffers should bring back more, but nobody really knows as a catcher of his quality hasn't been on the trade market in a long time. Unfortunately, bullpens are built in the offseason, not at the trade deadline. Probably the largest reason I don't want the Twins to do much for the deadline. I'm not sure how much I really trust Zoll to make the best trades that will make the Twins a better team going forward. I don't need to see what's in the mystery box. I agree, I want the goal to be to get or develop a closer. I am not expecting it at the deadline. I am not sure that Zoll wants this as I don't trust him either. My fear if he sticks in this job is he will continue the bullpen nonsense we have seen this year. Western SD Fan 1
Twins_Fan_in_NJ Verified Member Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago This is the best Twins moment since beating Toronto in the playoffs. Admittedly, a down year for the Yankees but taking 2 of 3 in Yankee Stadium is quite the accomplishment for this team. Western SD Fan, Longdistancetwins and Tlaker 3

My fear if he sticks in this job is he will continue the bullpen nonsense we have seen this year. Many an elite closer had command issues when they first came up. I remember a young Chapman would walk or hit about as many batters as he would strike out. Duran also had control issues. He almost alternated between strikeout and walk when he first came up. That's why I still have promise for Rojas (wherever they finally figure out where to put him), Raya, and Culpepper. Currently, I think Raya has the best chance of being a solid bullpen piece. He was highly touted, the luster has come off, and now he has made it to the other side no longer shackled to the expectations heaped upon him when he was drafted and brought up through the system. He's been raking like he did at the beginning of the season. Not recently. He’s struggled for a few games. Batting average is pretty goid, but his OPS is only about league average.

My generosity has worn out, especially with the Buxton question mark. Fedko is currently a detriment to this team and we can’t have that right now. It seems obvious to me that Jeffers will be activated from the IL on Tuesday and it seems like a very low chance that Jackson would clear waivers, so you need to keep him on the roster until you figure out what’s happening with Jeffers at the deadline. Having a 3rd catcher, a banged up Buxton, AND Fedko on this roster just can’t happen. Buxton to the IL until after the AS Break, Jeffers activated, and Roden called up. That solves a lot of problems and provides adequate coverage while we carry three catchers. Twins_Fan_in_NJ 1

amjgt Verified Member Posted 56 minutes ago Posted 56 minutes ago One other thing that sending Buxton to the IL does, is it allows the Twins to call up Rojas and “circumvent” the 15 day restriction.
