RpR Verified Member Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago With the probable Twins win, taking the series in the Bronx, this will be a wonderful Independence Day Weekend. 55 years ago today, my friends and I went out for a drive in the country and I woke up two weeks later with impaired Left eye, and scars. This will give me a July 5th to remember well!😃 S Bart, Church of Kreidler and glunn 1 2
Church of Kreidler Verified Member Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago I've been reading The Magical Game by Addy Baird, and she makes an excellent point that I think applies a lot to our Twins: "The front office has kind of said, 'We're pretty happy when the team contends but doesn't win, because winning means everybody's salaries go up. As long as we're contending, the fans won't go away. We'll pack the stadium. But if we win, it's just an extra expense." Perhaps the "pack the stadium" bit is a stretch, but I wouldn't argue about cheapness being a factor... Mike Sixel 1
