Going back to taking out Paredes in that situation.  It really was the right call.  I believe Paredes' longest start by pitch count is only 65 pitches.  He threw 59 pitches and was facing a good hitter, that just took him deep, with opposite handed splits.  It was too bad that he couldn't qualify for the win, but it was still the better move to make.

You are lucky, you don't have to hear about nachos for a half inning while Buxton is hitting a home run.

As little as 10 years ago 23 HRs and less than 46 RBI would have been scoffed at. Modern day MLB is very weird.

It's almost like he's spent a big chunk of the year batting leadoff or something

It's an indictment of their development of pitchers.  They have to stop having everyone be a bulk pitcher, so they are prepared to give some length up here if needed.  Only two pitchers are throwing more than 60 pitches a game in AAA.

I feel like for Buck the leadoff aspect only can go so far when his RISP is what it is this season. He could have way more RBIs.

Don't really disagree with you on that.  That's the joy of the Falvey pitching pipeline.  Draft low-ceiling pitchers later in the draft, rework their pitching arsenal to maximize velocity and movement, then get them all to be bulk pitchers that can only work 3-4 innings to ensure that we need to burn our bullpen for the series.

How many RBI has he not gotten due to the fact that most of the teams runners only advance one base at a time?

Wonder when they’re going to move Rashi up to the bullpen - I want to see what our shiny new reliever with a 9.82 ERA can do!

Hopefully lower that ERA

10% more RBI than the average hitter while having 15% fewer runners on than the average hitter and 17% fewer runners in scoring position than the average hitter

As fewer pitchers are going 5 innings to qualify for the win, I would like to see that rule eventually eliminated, and the official scorer gives the win to the most effective pitcher of the night.  Since Paredes didn't go 5 innings, he cannot qualify for the win, but he has been the most effective pitcher of the night so far.  If the score holds up, the win likely goes to Rogers.

Every plate appearance batting leadoff eh? I seem to see him struggling batting runs in when he's up with runners on base. In the spirit of hunting for the good I'm glad Buck is one of very few that can hit a ball into the seats.

Isn't Byron Buxton way better than average? All-Star caliber? How does he compare to other All-Star players?

Maybe it TD-induced paranoia, but did anyone else get “we’re soft launching Buxton’s been traded” vibes there?
