Western SD Fan Verified Member Posted June 16 Posted June 16 Going back to taking out Paredes in that situation. It really was the right call. I believe Paredes' longest start by pitch count is only 65 pitches. He threw 59 pitches and was facing a good hitter, that just took him deep, with opposite handed splits. It was too bad that he couldn't qualify for the win, but it was still the better move to make. Church of Kreidler and Mortimerkenny21 2

They have to stop having everyone be a bulk pitcher, so they are prepared to give some length up here if needed. Only two pitchers are throwing more than 60 pitches a game in AAA. Don't really disagree with you on that. That's the joy of the Falvey pitching pipeline. Draft low-ceiling pitchers later in the draft, rework their pitching arsenal to maximize velocity and movement, then get them all to be bulk pitchers that can only work 3-4 innings to ensure that we need to burn our bullpen for the series. Western SD Fan Verified Member Posted June 16 Posted June 16 As fewer pitchers are going 5 innings to qualify for the win, I would like to see that rule eventually eliminated, and the official scorer gives the win to the most effective pitcher of the night. Since Paredes didn't go 5 innings, he cannot qualify for the win, but he has been the most effective pitcher of the night so far. If the score holds up, the win likely goes to Rogers.
